Sorry I can't help out. Unless I get that possible job offer and can for sure get $$ I would jump at that 8600 in a heartbeat.:( But if it doesn't sell, if I can scrape up some money I will get it. How much do you think USPS Ground would cost to Vancouver, BC? Postal code is V4C 7X6.

Also, I am looking for a usb -> serial converter, so I can use my newton with OS X. An Airport card for my iBook would also be nice. I have no cash, or not much atleast, so trading for or atleast part of the cost on these items is desired.~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Looks like hd's of decent size (scsi 50 pin) are getting hard to find (at least cheaply). I snagged a few 4.5gb 7200 rpm ibm's 50 pin from ebay recently at $18 each.

Penguin, if the 8600 is not sold, I am most defineatly wanting to buy it.I get paid on the 25-28th of this month which is in roughly 8 days. I'm getting sick of my PC. If you say it is available, you have a 100% solid sale.

Hello Mackie- I'm wondering why you took out the time in your ever busy life to try and shit on someone else's deal. First off, it's been well past the 20 hours in which he made this post and needed the money. Secondly, why would you try and talk down someone's deal when you yourself are not even trying to buy anything? Thirdly, that is actually a great price on a Newton bundle, if you happen to be in the market. Comparing a Newton to a Powerbook is useless, as Newton people know what they've got and know the limitations and concepts of the PDA over the laptop (usually). If you want a laptop, get one, if you want a Newton, get one, but don't expect the 2 to be interchangeable, as they are not.-Da Penguin: Sorry to have to post this like this, but people shitting on deals they are not involved in is tasteless and well, shitty. If anyone thinks I am wrong, feel free to comment. -Eft

I get my internet back to find this. Great. Thanks Eft, [semi flame] mackie notice how i said fundraising. I know people could get it lower, I was going on the instinct that people might spare a cpl bucks to help a young kid get educated (as obviously u so well are) in technology. If this somehow breaks the comprehendability limit on ur brain, sit down on urr thumb, and see if it pokes your brain. [/semi flame] ~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Price isnt allways the deciding factor, you also have the shipping charges (sometimes more money then the item your buying), and you also have the possibility of getting screwed over by the seller if you dont know him.I have paid a couple bucks more to buy an item from a website I have dealt with before then some noname place that looks iffy. Also if a deal is going down where 1 person is clearly raping the other over price (I am talking many multiples of what it can be found at other reliable venders) then you should speak up. I am not saying any of these deals were of that variety.

I defend this deal because my Powermac 8600 which is the one listed here isa perfect machine and does everything I wanted. In all, I paid 200 Canadian for it. That is a steal because here in Canada, those elitest Mac Shops want 300-400 dollars for them, and they don't even have 32MB of ram. Besides, I wanted to help Penguin out, feel good about helping a friend and getting a cool mac. So go suck a lemon. It's sweeter than your attitude here on the MLA. We pride ourselves in having *some* respect for each other.

was this part towards me?In veiwing over other of Mackie's post I was appalled by the fact that he said not to worry about a monitor discharge on a classic Mac. Sited that one should "know better anyways". I admit I've had some attitude here on the forums (TiMaclover's snail deal with myself & a snide comment about the subsequent deals that fell through after that + that kid who bought every Mac created for $1). But I'm not lemon, more like bitters.

OK, now I'm wondering: Da Penguin- What did you need $200 for? Did you get close within your 20 hours timespan? How close?

I needed the $200 so i could commit to a purcahse of an iBook. This was in conjunction with the NYLF forum thing I went to in CA. My rents would go half way with me on a laptop if I had the cold hard cash. I needed the money to get to that point, on top of the forum's monetary needs. As I am on the iBook now, I did pretty well.~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email?
