I am running my Quadra 650, with a Dos compatibility card running Dos, running Gem.

Gem was used by Tos, but apparently by Dos too.

Anyone got experience with Gem for the pc?

It is very very nice, kinda exciting.

Well I have no mouse, I have tried a set-up program thant you get with it, it has a few mouse drivers but none worked.

Gem itself seemed a bit slow, but it ran a pc program(Gemulator.exe), though it didn't run Gorilla.bas.

But I love the interface.

I have mouse control!!!!

I used an old mouse install disk, got it with a mouse I bought which failed me like the previous mouse had, this is cheap pc mice were talking, but the driver works so we get a smiley

So far I have been playing Gorilla.BAS & have run DPaint 2, both DOS Applications.

What I must do is back up all my floppy disks! I have on floppy;

DOS 5
Magic(for ST)
Tos games & apps(couldn't bear to throw them away)
DP2
Mouse driver
A few mac os bits
Various versions of Tos
A few pics of my son when he was born.

I am struggling cos I wanted to run Win98 on my DOS card, well I copied Win98 from cd to hard drive, but I keep being asked to insert a boot floppy, which I don't have:-(

I have cd on DOS!

However, It is slow & makes the system want to stop working
Unfortunatley Gem isn't seeing the cd drive.
Gem is not running Zebuland

This is all a bit like 2 steps forward, 1 step back!

I am now attempting to instal Windows 98 onto it!

Very scary, will it work?
Do I want it to work?

If I can run Gemulator then I'm as happy as a man running Gemulator

Yuck, Windows 98. That's going to be so slow on a 486. And besides, WIndows 98 just sucks altogether. It's slow, and unstable. You're much better off with Win 95. Especially Win 95 OSR2. That was the best version of Win9x IMHO.

Ah. Seeing as though 95 is a bit old these days it shouldn't cost too much to pick up a copy. Still a good OS though.
