I am taking a two wek hiatus from the 68kMLA. after that i'll decide how active i want to be...

i was thinking about stuff tonight, and i realized i dont really care that much about 68k's anymore (except my performa 578) and I really never post anything here that means something to anybody else anyway.

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

PS: Cory, this is not because of our little flame-session. this has been coming for a while.

flame session?

oh with me a flame session basically means nothing it happens all of the time and I basically remember not to put much meaning into it...

anyway... good luck "finding yourself" and worst comes to worse, a valuable member stops posting, if worst comes to best, you keep posting at your nicn' steady rate...

either way good luck.

remember, and this is THE selling point I like to use, I've seen other people use it too... you don't HAVE to like, or use 68ks to come here, and be liked, and like the people and the community, it's a forum where youc an talk about them though...

One of the other things I'd like to say is that even if you do decide that the MLA just isn't the right forum for you, remember that you don't have to forget any of the good friends you may have made here

That's about July 28th right? (well... I'm going by tomorrows' date)

you said a road trip...

so On August 1, I want you to send an eMail to cory5412@ureach.com and I'll be unblocking you from my AIM account... I want you to have an unclouded view of things during your 2 week period of finding yourself...

I'm sorry to see that you don't care much about 68K systems anymore. Like Cory said, I hope you are able to think about everything. With luck, I hope you'll be back.

As for posting amounts, I believe that you don't need to post a lot to have an impact on the community in general. If you have something to add, then post it. If you don't, or don't feel like posting, then don't. Thus is the mantra of the forum lurker.

Um, Is cory purging members of the 68kmla now? First is was llamaboy487, and now catsdorule. If I may ask, what is happening cory? Are both connected, or differnet issues?

Does it really take 2 weeks to think about it?

Why not just read the threads when you feel like it, and reply if you feel like it? No one is making you post?

This is a good and relaxed attitude to take.

Just do whatever makes you happy

p.s. Shak, this is a good opportunity for you to pull another Buddha quote! He must have something good to say about a situation like this.

Sorry to hear of your waning interest in 68k's. I hope that you will still liberate any forlorn Macs that you happen to see in a dumpster, by the side of the road, forgotten in the back of a friend's closet, etc.

I hope you come back.

Sucks to hear that your interest in 68ks is no more. We will miss you though, as a fairly active member on the MLA. Ah well, having a new Mac can do this sort of stuff to you! That reminds me of a little tip i have to give you guys. Don't use a 12" AlBook unless you are in the market for a new computer. Trust me.

OK this is the last post i promise. i need to clear this up because you guys are getting the wrong idea.

1) i am not leaving because of cory. i just need to step away from it and not be so active because i dont really get anything out of this forum anymore... not that you guys arent great on AIM, and i hope you will continue to be.

2) I am still a computer packrat, i will take anything with a processor and put it in my Computer Lab.

3) im not mad at anybody! please dont get that impression. I just want to lurk. i'll comment if i really really have something to say. Otherwise dont expect me to post.

see you all in august. I'll come back, i promise.

There's nothing wrong with that. A lot of do, including me. I don't see any reason to leave, just poat when the mood strikes you. Maybe find another forum to compliment this one for your new and non-68k interests where all your buddies from here can continue enjoying presence.

I don't think that that's nice to accredit me with people leaving..

anyway... it's just like with me and places like applefritter, MAF and (many other forums)

if you want to leave, you don't have to tell us..

Thank you, llama, for telling people that it's not because of me...

The way I see it is this. I'm not going to be having any 68k machines around anymore in a while, but that's not going to stop me from posting here. Just because I don't have the machines doesn't mean I don't have the knowledge. I contribute where I can or if I just have something to say. I vote for you not leaving, but instead just sorta chillin with us. I can't tell you the exact number of posts I post in the lounge section, but I know this much, most of them are there. I think that the forums in general have drifted away from the hardcore 68k getting and slipped into a bunch of "veterans" bumming around shooting the breeze in the VFW post 3823143729048. I'm all about having a good time... have it where you can. Don't let anything stop you.... ya.... i've lost what i was trying to say, so uh, enjoy your break, and whatnot.

Yes. I have noticed this too. When I first came here, nearly every thread was about 68ks. PPCs where considered contraband and PCs where considered unmentionable garbage.

I'm not sure what has changed, but I do miss the old 68kMLA.

I miss the old 68kMLA too. Mainly because of the fact that everyone was here, and everyone was posting quite a bit. Not garbage, but stuff that was really worth reading. There was no such thing as the infamous postcount++;. Everyone was on everyone else's good side. It was just...better!

I, personally, still beleive that the discussion here is better than at other forums..

many other forums have just too many members who are all "Postcount++;"

Whats the whole point of posting just to be the largest poster?

I joined here because I wanted to talk with people who use the old 68ks. Most apple forums are all about OSX era machines with a few beiege g3/PCI macs.

Now I need to find a good Apple IIgs forum (I already found a nice DOS game forum, and 2 Amiga/EMU related forums).

I like reto pc's

*steps up to the edge of topic*

OK, I am on the outside of this one, but my $0.02 on lurking.

A lot of times, I dont have time to post, or the computer I am on is too slow to post with. these are the times I lurk. Lurking is perfectly acceptable, IMHO.

As for the rest of this kind of thing, I find it best to step back, view from a distance, and take with a grain of salt.
