$5. You pay for shipping. ;-)Seriously, eBay's ended auctions are a great way to find out what the current market value is. Like this. ,xtG .tsooJ -- who | grep -i blonde | date cd ~; unzip; touch; strip; finger mount; gasp; yes; uptime; umount sleep |

Actually this week's listing are doing not too bad, the lowest was 49US and it had one bid on it.However generally speaking, certian Mac models there are more of. Others there are less, like the 840AV because iether it was hard to get in the first place or they are so good that most users don't give them up. If you can't use it, see if there is a musuem for technology in your area. There are a few starting up and that machine would make a fine addition. :)

I was counting my money and I olny have $20. That good enough? Or should I point out every little flaw abut it in hopes of lowering the price? Current Mac Collection: Macintosh Plus And a Peforma 637CD on the way |

I start low, offer $3 to $5, point out the risk of buying an old computer. Mentioning too many flaws is always tricky -- insult the merchandise too much and the seller won't like you. You could also play the sympathy card or the good home card. Tell them the offer is all you can afford, that you really like to tinker with old computers, that it will have a good home, etc.Whether they will ask a high price depends on how precious the machine is/was to them. If its all jumbled in a box, they are probably just looking to unload the thing to save a trip to the dump. If the machine is nicely displayed on table and the computer was proudly mentioned in the yard sale's newspaper ad, then they will expect more for their treasured machine. Finally, coming back to the sale at the end of the day may get you a better price -- if an item did not get much interest, then the seller may be more willing to cut the price. Good luck! Yard sales are a great way to get really really good prices, but some sellers can have way over inflated opinions of the value of the machine. Bottomline: bargain because you never know how low a seller might be willing to go. Whats cool to find is the wife of a computer collector who has had enough of his bullshit and wants here space back. So when the guy is out working she has a garage sale of his treasures just to get rid of them. The value of most macs in the 68030 and before is basically $0 Hell the PM7500 workhorse is pretty much a $50 item these days. IIfx, 840AV, Q950 are collectable but shipping usually costs more then they are worth. The original mac in mint condition might be worth a few bucks. Most apple II's are give aways anymore or have a token charge assocuiated with them unless they are mint in box with all manuals.

US$15 (AU$30) would be the highest i'd pay for it, even as a collector, unless it is either NIB, or in mint condition."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

When I'm buying an old computer, especially from individuals and at garage sales... I LOVE the "learning experience" card now that I'm a teenager and the only stuff available is old PEESEES it doesn't work very well... I'm going ot have to try that if I find anything nice like a NeXT or SGI system Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"
