Do you have hard disks and 72 Pin ram that you could sell for a reasonable price?

Local mac dealers are charging insane prices. For example, a 4GB SCSI External hard drive is 125 Canadian. I can get used SCSI enclosures for no more than 25 CDN used. And no-one is gonna tell me a used 4GB SCSI is worth 100 bucks. Or, 32MB of ram is 20 bucks per chip. Insane! Even when 72-Pin was the standard used prices were not that insane. And it's not like they are hard to get.

Anyways if you are within Canada nd have some stuff you could sell at good prices, then please let me know as I would be interested. I got some money (like 75 bucks) so I want to do a little shopping.

:) Thanks!

BOJ,

Where are you located? Out here in Vancouver, there are places with insane prices but with a little hunting you can get some great prices. Are you looking for 50 pin SCSI, UW? Minimum size?

As far as I know, all SCSI drives are backwards compatible. Er, with the righ adapter. So I would venture to say any SCSI drive as long as it is supported by Apple.

But having said that, 50 Pin drives are easier to deal with and suffer less troubles than say some of the LDV (spelling?) or wide drives.

So, if you can find a nice sized mac drive 50-pin scsi, and it's a resnable size, I will glady get it and allot a small finders fee for you. (5 bucks ok fo finders fee? I know it's not much)

Sizes I enjoy are minimum 2GB, no maximum really but I have seen years earlier where I worked scsi 4gb drives sell for like 20-30 bucks and so I would think today it shouldn't be more than say 20-25 dollars for a 4gig. Heck they sell some 2gb on ebay for like 10 bucks, but nothing on ebay is a sure thing, it's kinda luck a lucky draw, if your lucky you won't be outbid and get a good price. (I lean towards buy it now items that have good prices)

:) if you can offer any help thanks! I basically have the cash ready so say the word and I can be in Vancouver sometime soon. (I live in North Delta)

:)

This guy is selling used 72 pin SIMMs on ebay. He appears to be a Canadian seller.

The Balance Of Judgement, I agree with your statements about Canadian "Local mac dealers". Check these ridiculous prices listed by an Ontario dealer . . .

Here are another couple of links to possible Canadian sellers of 72 pin SIMM RAM . . .

When I was looking to upgrade my RAM and HDD for my Quadra 610 this London Ontario company . . .

http://www.mostlymac.com/index_b.lasso?-token=mac

quoted these outrageous prices . . .

"I have a used 3GB internal Quantum drive for $50.00 with a 30 day warranty. The price for 32MB, 72 Simms are $59.99 each (New)"

Here are some suggestions by others on where to look for used Mac stuff in Canada . . .

I will look into these options.

Sometimes though I like dealing person to person because you get a good history (usually) of how a device was used and it just seems more community orientated.

Also, if I can manage to get stuff locally from users or shops in the Lower Mainland Vancouver/GTA area even better because shipping won't drag out the prices.

Even though eBay is a great place, for such small items, you are never gauranteed a good price because very few go on a Buy It Now basis. You have to bid and I ejoy buying things right away at a guaranteed price that fits in my budget not waiting 6 days to find out someone else outbid me or that I have to pay more. (I check but still, the principle)

Some of the links do sound good and if they are willing to charge reasonable shipping rates then perhaps for the odd item I will get.

Apple should issue a press release on the US fund related value of older Macs compared to new ones. Maybe that will get people off thier high horses. Some people think even though these machines were Gods years ago that today people should still pay God-Like prices.

Hey BOJ

If you are in North Delta, check out PC Place (76 and King George, Surrey). They are starting to carry used SCSI drives but the larger sizes are mostly Ultra Wides. The smaller drives (<2 GB) are 50 pin.

Try to leave some stuff for me :-)
