What is this "War Room" board? It seems to me that it merely just serves the purpose to tease non-moderators and encourage a strange and cruel "hierarchy" of members.

no one knows what goes on in there ... and quite frankly most dont want to ... screams of pain are heard originating from that board ... so my guess is its where they interrogate the prisoners of war ... and the whole "mods only" thing is just a front to keep it secret

As a democratic environment this board is, full of freedom, libery, etc. We must have a vote as to whether we should open the war room to the general population.

I vote FOR the opening of the war room to the general public. All else in favor?

Why is our choice to decide whether the war room is accessable to us?

I've had my chances trust me!

it's a place where the moderators can discuss current issues without us getting under foot...

although I think they should make a special exception for those with purple stars

Just because the mods in this place are fairly lenient and usually pay attention to people's suggestions, it doesn't mean that this place is democratic at all, and it was never advertised as being as such.

I just love this place.

I'm secretly giggling like a little girl after reading this thread..it's so hilarious!

No way, the War Room will never be opened. And yes, we are pretty lenient, as mods. As a matter of fact, i don't recall using my moderating powers for quite a while now. If you want to see tough mods, go to the 'Fritter.

By the way my vote was *with* the site's operators to keep the place closed. It's an essential feature, and being an admin on several other sites, it's important to say things without others around.

Ahh the War Room... how does this little board always bring up such topics as these.

And ~Coxy and ML5 are correct, We are lenient, and it is true this place isnt a democracy. Also I too dont see it becoming open any time soon.

there's a button I can hit to apply for modship??

(.ME remembers that hte last time ML5 used "modpowers" was on MY thread that I worked on for SO LONG because I mentioned someone's real name or something) (URGHH.....)

anyway... other than that sometimes the war room goes for long time with no posts and from what I've heard all they talk about is how they need new moderators but never seem to actually appoint anyone

.ME raises hand patiently to become a mod

Open the war room up for a day and let us see what the heck you're doing in there. Then close it back up.

hehehe im chuckling as i read this because its such a sticky subject... its generating almost as much response as the time i suggested different options for possibly adding a ppc section but lets not start that debate again...

i dont care about the war room; the mods occasionally have to talk about things that we dont all need to know about, such as banning people (well... i cant think of anybody thats been banned, but...) and how to treat a certain situation...

and then there was the time that cinemo logged in as supermod and posted about dancing on his head

PS: it would be pretty cool if you opened it up for a day to let us read it, not post, and then sealed it off FOREVER (to the public, not to everyone )

nah ... that would spoil the surprise for when (if ever) we are finally admitted to that club ... but really ... i dont care about it really ... its just stuff about the running of the forum ... and most people wouldnt find that really interesting would they

YIPES! Don't open the War Room. Please, don't open the War Room. I'm sure it is a Pandora's Box of boiling anger and steamy passions that range from the depths of despair to dizzying heights of ecstasy. If released it would swirl about the forums in a maelstrom of bitterness and resentment that poisons all the threads that it touches.

The War Room is very dangerous stuff. For immature audiences only. Not suitable for the more delicate members of the 68kMLA. Everything in the War Room should come with the Warning: DANGER: Professional Posters On Closed Forum, Do Not Attempt At Home!

I say that we keep them mods locked up in the War Room while us grunts rule all the other forums.

this is true im sure there are lots of comments in there about members of the MLA that would make the members that are the subject of the comments VERY angry so its probably better if we just leave the War Room locked up.

can we petition to rename it NORAD, or Central Command, or something?
EDIT: perhaps we could call it House O' Moderators

Take the war room off of the front page then and stop teasing us with it. Even when I had a mod only forum on a board I used to run I didn't advertise that fact in the face of every other poster.

The mere fact it's closed up conveys the image that something illegal or questionable may be going on in there ;)

I'm not even sure if this software supports hidden forums. Either way, it's never going away, as like everyone has said, sometimes some issues come up that mods need to talk about privately. So...yeah, it will never be opened up. Sorry.

I find the War Room's presence to be motivational. It keeps me striving for that 9th interrupt level of 68k enlightenment. I seek that floating-point nirvana in which my former life is but a virtual memory

That was great!

Anyway, the reason why we wouldn't open the War Room is because of all the billions of topics full of vile slander and other various insults.

I'm still interested in this button that lets you sign up be a mod!

anyway... PHPbb2 supports hidden forums!

I don't think that they should hide it though... it IS a motivation and it's part of the MLA and shouldn't be hidden...

It would be easy to "hide" the War-Room with the current Snitz being used. This isn't really a big deal though and seems to be a redundent discussion at this point. It's there, has always been there, and will continue to be. I can't think of a time when it ever constituted a problem. It really takes a hyper-active imagination to think that the people that provide such a great place to the public would be plotting against them. As the song goes, "Let it be".
