Hey all!

Long time lurker, first time poster here with a quick question.

I'm trying to download MkLinux and I'm on a dial-up. Ain't that a pisser. Anyways, I would like to download overnight and then continue each night until it's finished.

Is this possible? I've got a 10 hour window each night to download but I'm worried about file corruption.

Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to do this?

PPC? OSX? Any type of software is welcome.

Thanks in advance, I didn't know who else to ask :)

MkLinux? WHY? That distro is so old it's practically useless. Google for the kernel hacks to make YDL run on NuBus PPC Macs, or just use straight YDL on PCI Macs.

For classic Mac OS I use ViaHTTP (http://www.bainsware.com/viahttp/). It works very well and I've never had a corrupted file. It tends to hog all available bandwidth so don't try to surf while downloading with it, but since it'll be going overnight that would actually be a big plus . Hope this is what you're looking for.Go to Top of Page

I've got a PowerBook 1400 sitting here and thought it would be something to try with MkLinux.

that would be a reason to try MKlinux ;)

YDL works on 3400 and 2400 but not 1400 and 5300

dont know what MKlinux supports though

For Classic systems there used to be a download manager called Speed Download I believe. It would get files in small chunks. The last version was at 1.8 before it was bought out and changed to 1.9, but everyone who uses it prefers 1.8.

It's hard to find since it was commercial software and is no longer sold. But a few Hotline servers still carry it, although you might have to haggle with the owners to get access.

It most certainly will work! It'll take a little effort, but you'll actually have a reasonably up-to-date system.

I know that this has been tested with YDL 2.3, but I don't know about YDL 3.0. It's worth a try.

Thanks, guys. That info may come in handy. I thought Interarchy resumed downloads, too, but I could be wrong. I know Hotline resumes downloads, too, but that's probably not what you were looking for.

Some good download managers for the PC are GetRight and FlashGet, for those of you who also use PC.
