I've been searching forever, and to no success!

I'm direly searching for Rhapsody DR2 for Intel x86 systems.

I've already got the PPC version of DR1 and 2, but not for x86 yet. ;)
So far I've seen that Da Penguin has a hotline server up, but I haven't seen an IP to connect to it yet :(.

Anyhoo, just order my dual 2ghz G5! :D I can't wait for it to arrive!!

use FTP to connect to torpedobird.com with l/p hluser/hlfiles

I am not sure if the image works for sure or not, but it is there under operating systems.

Remember that Rhapsody hardware support is minimal. The early UNIX cores before Darwin have no support for AMD CPU's only Intel, and have very limited hardware support. So I would assume even many modern machines would not take well to Rhapsody.

However the good news is that many Virtual machine programs such as Virtual PC and VMWare and I believe Bochs will run Rhapsody with no problems. Just be sure to disable fancy options like sound and possibly ethernet since it might not support it.

Thanks for the FTP!

It only has DR2 for PPC, and DR1 for x86 :[
But thank you for helping anyway! :D

I liberated 2 68ks (Quadra 900 and a 950) off eBay.com last night . They're awesome boxes for so little monies! I paid 30 for each, and that's WITH shipping!
As for the G5, yep! It should arrive on Friday... or Monday :(

Oh I almost forgot!
Da Penguin: Do you still have your hotline server up?

I'm dying to get my hands on DR2 for x86...
Do you have it in ISO form? Burning onto a CD to burn it on another CD on Mac to convert it to an ISO to get it to run on a intel box would be a pain .

My company works directly with Apple on hardware technology projects, so we get lots of Apple goodies before they are released, like the iPods, the old G4s, and now the G5s. ;D

I ordered mine through my boss, so it will be ALL mine, not the company's. It's really expensive though.Go to Top of Page

I now realize I don't have DR2 anywhere for x86. I was almost positive I did, but alas, no finding. Also, no HL until I get done with the glass class this week as well as a web site design. Then I need to get HL on linux working right, that will be a blast.

Yes please! >;]
I have an intel box I'd like to try Rhapsody on. Sometimes I see multiple releases on HL servers, but not labeled clearly. So I typically am not sure what the releases are. I wonder how OpenStep4.2 and the Rhapsody versions would compare.
Currently I use 9.1 on my 8500 here, and 10.2.5 on my B&W. I like to use current OSes so I can run a few audio appz that I like- but other than that I am psyched to try various OSz. I would LOVE to run Rhapsody on the 8500, maybe Server 1.2. I only run a phone modem here so dl ov even a small disk image requires much patience. Oh yeah, people always mess with the phone here too. Getting online requires patience these daze. I just got Darwin a few daze ago when I had brief access to a cable modem, but I have yet to figure out how to burn it. Actually, I suppose I'll move this to a new thread

If Captain Z wants to through it on there right now with the current FTP, It will be up as soon as it gets there.

I have the same trouble with rhapsody as you guys, I thought I had DR2, but it was DR1, grrrr. I think ciricon may have DR2 x86 though...
Robw and metrophage, have you guys checked out openstep for those machines as well? System runs quite nicely,er, atleast under VPC.

Right now my main concern is just the backup up of my data to CD-R.

My next concern is getting a stable dual boot enviroment. (Windows/Linux)

Once that is done my PC troubles are almost over. But because I switch back and forth between various OS'es etc., you can see why my PC is not reliable for hosting a webserver. That's why I'm trying to fix my Mac up with more space. One MLA user is donating a large drive soon, so when that arrives more of the archives can go 24x7 since the Mac stays on most of the time.

Btw, if anyone can send me a CD Caddy, I can put a CD up on my Mac's webserver with the most requested items. The CD uses a Caddy which I don't have. They seem rather hard to find.

Lastly, I want to find a reliable and safe switch so I can switch back and forth between my Mac and PC (Monitor only) so that I don't have to use remote control system which crashed my mac in the first place.

Isn't life grand?

I was told to have someone mail it to me already on CDs

Bit Torrent does work as many mac users use it. If you need help, do a google search. I don't run OS X so I don't know if it's a GUi or commandline, sorry.

There may be other help sites around, that one is the official page.

BT uses a Hash to verify downloads, so when you start a download to resume, it takes a while for it to verify the file is not corrupt then it continues. Also your download speed is dependant on your upload speed, so you won't be going to fast.
