Yep, thats right. I'm finally typing this from my iMac, with Mac OS X 10.2.6!!!!! :D Safari rocks, and is as fast as everyone says it is, too. Its truly a great operating system. One question, though. I have 192 megs of RAM, 128 in the bottom slot, and 64 in the top slot. However, it seems that the computer no longer sees the 64 megs, and unless someone broke into my house and opened up the iMac and stole the RAM, its still there. What nicked the other 64 meg?

Who cares about the 64 MB, pick up a cheap stick of 256MB of RAM and you'll be alot happier.

Seriously though OS X is fussier about RAM but it would be mor likely that you had serious flakiness than the RAM just not being recognised (although it might be too slow, PC 66, not sure if that would cause this problem) Just pop the back open, it's too easy and reseat it or swap them around.

Yeah well at least you can download Safari 1.0 and it's not like anyone else has a FINAL version of Panther

Lol, very nice. I tried reseating the 64 megger, and it still won't pick it up. Sometime i'll try the original 32 meg stick...i know it sucks, but 160 megs of RAM is still nicer than 128.

Hmm, now all I have to do is take this thing apart, clean out all the dust and crap that's surfaced in the deep, dark depths of this thing after 4 years, save up for a stick of 256 megs, and i'll have a damn nice machine!

Yeah, as soon as i get off she's going into the garage and up onto the blocks for a total strip down, as the car freaks would say. (I really should quit the analagies between computers and cars....) Either way, hopefully she'll be back on the road this afternoon, all nice and clean and shiny and stuff! I'm not going to g ive the thing a total stripdown, but I'm going as far as i can without touching the CRT, with my 8100 aside, with the service manual open.

hehehehe... I really should to a complete rebuild on the 7300... I'm not going to do that until I get some more space and more of my stuff out... like a HDD sled to mount the 2nd HDD on... and then it's on to Vert7300 stand!

Very nice, Cory. As you can see, this iMac still works, after having the entire lower part of the computer completely dissassembled. No more rust has been discovered, either, which is a Very Good Thing.

leaving it on all the time? because BCA said it'd take 25 hours for full effect...

26-27 hours after initial bootup I'm doing wonderfully!

In Apple's official press release they will say:

"This issue does not affect users whose parents require all Macintosh machines shutdown at the end of each daylight period"
