how do you share an internet connection if all you have access to is a set of appletalk cables/boxes?
(meaning, no ethernet or anyother form of networking beside apple's)

I'm guessing you could use SurfDoubler from Vicomsoft (http://www.vicomsoft.com/surfdoubler/surf.main.html).Go to Top of Page

wow... I never really knew that there was a way to do TCP/IP over AppleTalk...

it should be pretty fast if you have fast internet... because the serial is 230 kb per second...

The other day I got really bored (really, really bored) and pulled out an old US Robotics modem and set up Open Transport and FreePPP on my mac IIcx (running System 7.5.5). My other computer is a mac Classic (which currently has a corrupt system 6.0.7) that I'm trying to reinstall system 7.1.1 on. I was just wondering if I could set up an AppleTalk (or is it LocalTalk? I never can remember) network where I could share that modem connection (yes, I know it would be horribly slow, I just want to know if it can be done

It's very possible.

I'm currently using a PowerMac 7200/120 as my home internet router running IPNetRouter from www.sustworks.com. I use an external 56k modem to access the net and the onboard ethernet and localtalk for my computers.

It also runs on both 68k and PPC machines, however, the 7200 is all I had lying around at the time.

I think Da Penguin's server has it. You should check the website for the other server listings or ask around here. If you cant find it online give me an email, I may be able to secure you a copy.

hehehe

Maybe I should reconsider what someone told me about creating a localtalk trunk in my own home!!!

a buch of 68ks on localtalk with the TiBook or other IW as a server would be cool
