Friday, I went to a garage sale and saw a 6116CD sitting on a pile of other computer junk. Prices seemed a bit high at the sale, so I came back late Saturday afternoon at the end of the sale to bargain. I got my first PowerPizzaBox for $4. Its nothing too special, no add-on boards, stock 700 MB HD, but it did come with 40 MB RAM.

The seller claims that it works, but I need to find/make an HDI-45 to DB-15/VGA video adapter. Anyone know if the 6100 supports the NTSC output hack?

At another garage sale, I bought a partial disassembled 7100 for parts for $3. I extracted a SuperMac S/24 PDQ+ video card, 256k L2 cache, 24 MB worth of 72-pin SIMMs, various internal SCSI/drive power cables, and the power supply. I plan to use the parts to upgrade my Mac II, LC III, the new 6116CD, and the DuoDock I.

Cheers all,

Well, its like this. You see, I was out walking when I found the garage sale. And between not wanting to carry a 7100 for 2 miles and not having any space for it if I did get it home, I really could not keep the entire unit.

I know this will sound heartless, but I bought the 7100 for $3, stripped it at the garage sale, and returned the remains to the former owner. The remains consisted of the case, internal frame, and mobo (the HD was missing to begin with). He had another 7100 for sale that had already been partially stripped.

I do feel bad about not bringing the whole thing home . I feel bad for not buyng both 7100s and giving them a new lease on life. But, I just don't have space for another big computer. SIGH!

Flame me, I deserve it.

What makes you say that? If I had a 6100 instead of my 8100, i'd stick in the 1 gig that is currently in the 8100.

I'm glad you asked. It gave me a chance to reveal my sins. Oh, the shame, the shame!

Forgive me Father Jobs, for I have sinned .......

At least it was not a 68k machine. For penance, I did buy a dirty, scratched, forlorn "AS IS" PB 520c at the local Computer Renaissance store.
