Really? Wow, that is quite cool. I would have never guessed. But just for clarification the GC's is modified it isnt like a stock G3 or anything. And from what I read on the MAF on that topic, the processor is more akin to a G4 than G3.

Yeah, I remember that from when my brother had a Sega Genesis. Same chip as a Plus!

Hehehe. Yeah my Shinobi arcade board had a 10mhz 68000. The Saturn has a Dual Hitachi SH2 and a 68000 to control the sound. Most all mid 80's to early 90's arcade games were 68000 based. The SNK Neo-Geo video game system also had a 68000 cpu. And some arcade games had dual 68000 processors, such as Space Harrier, Hang-On, After Burner, just about any that used pseudo 3D. They found their way into a lot of systems. :)

Speaking of 68000's, a lot of TI calculators have them in them. I have a TI92 and a TI voyage 200, which both have 10 MHz 68000 processors in them. The latter of the two has 2.7 MB of memory in it and cost 180 bucks, compared to 8 MHz, 128kB of memory and some 2500 dollars of the first macintosh.

Yeah... It's even used in robotics controllers, including the handyboard which uses an MC68HC11 and a larger variant of it that uses a full 68000 proc.

Interesting. I had never known about the Sega Megadrive using a 68k. It really is amazing all the places that 68ks end up. What's even MORE ironic though, is that my stupid netadmins at my ****ed up school had a Cisco router which served the entire school netowrk, and they hate Macs, yet most/all Cisco routers HAVE A 68030 IN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How's that for ironic?

Another system that uses 68k is the Philips CDi, it's runs a Philips modified 68000/16 called a 68070 (a REAL Motorola 070, can you imagine it?) this was a 68000 with some of the other support logic and stuff on the same die, pretty cool I reckon. Another set of systems that used 68k were the Atari ST/TT/Falcon.

an 070 eh? I'd regularly expect that to go at about 133MHz

let's start designing it (or copying from phillips, and overclocking severely)
