Well my 7600 is poorly & so internet duty has been taken over by my 840av, which seems better than I remember it, however the only difference being that instead of having a large disk cache I only have 96, the smallest setting & VM is still off & instead of a 10 or 20MB ram disk I have a 50 MB ram disk, my 840av whirrs alot but the perfomance seems improved, ie:- I don't have to wait as long for pages to load & can access more links at once without NS crashing.

Tuning always makes the difference. Sounds like you've got it running nice!

I'm not quite sure how you've set things up but IIRC your 840AV has 128 Mb of rAM and the 7600 has 200MB+ I wouldn't have virtual memory turned on on either.

It's also a good idea to use a small disk cache for browsers or it ends up being quicker to download the page than search the cache, at least that was true when NS 4 was new. 10-20 MB should be plenty.

Netscape sucks anyway! Honestly download Moz for your 7600, I'm actually doing some large scale internet software testing and unsurprissingly NS 4 fails mosts tests, Mozilla works better than anything else.

Anyway a parcel (actually a large envelope) should be with you any day now.

yeah... I remember when my iMac had less RAm than the quadra... small sccreen but BOY did I like the 840av better...

what I find is that when I've had a computer and am used to it's quirks and junk... it works better for me...

also... there's something to be said about using comptuers that aren't yours... (or aren't in your own space)

that's why I'm not using hte 7300 very much
