Well I have just bought this off ebay,

I can now do this....

Play a vcd on my 7600, output it to my 840av(nothing else I have has s-video ports!), output from the 840av(composite) into my scart block(has 3 scart inputs & a composite/rca l&r inputs), then take that from the scart block to pretty much anything I desire, hopefully from my scart block to my VCR which is approximatley 10 - 15 metres away in the main bedroom!

A little convoluted to get to watch vcd's in the bedroom?

Nice, but couldn't you plug the 7600 straight into the SCART block?

Btw, what VCDs are you planning on watching in the bedroom?

No 7600 only has audio rca out, audio jack out & the obligatory monitor out, so I would have to buy a dedicated pci graphics card with either, composite or s-video or scart out.

I hope & pray that the leads work, the piccy of them isn't clear as to how many pins from the mac end & one is female, whilst the other is male. I did ask the seller a question but not in time & today then I got an "unable to deliver this email" message!, but I did buy the leads out of curiosity as much as anything else & usally would find a use for them in some capacity.

erm watching erm my Monkey VCD that I got with DVD monthly.

Interesting, let us know if it works. You may have found a use for that 7600 now.

Indeed I have just had another look at the auction item & if I'm not mistaken the item is s-video to 9 pin D male

bearing that in mind, is there any reason/way this could be described as a mac video lead?

Audio is 3.5mm jack to 9 pin D female from what I can tell from the picture.

Picture should be nice and fuzzy by then.

I have the leads & what a funny couple of leads they are;

The first has svideo, though 8 pins!

like this;

. .
. . .
. . .

This then leads to a 9 pin D plug, which would fit into the back of my 1084s, only the two holding bolts get in the way & the unit is rubber sealed so as to prevent the removal of those bolts.

The next lead has 9 pin D socket & this fits neatly with the 9 pin D plug of the previous cable.
The other end of this cable is a 3/4 inch jack plug.

Also on the second cable are 2 round cylinders one at each end, I am assuming that these filter out interference.

Well I am going to experiment!

Additional

Well don't all laugh at once, it isn't a video cable at least I don't think it can be.

the svideo is not svideo but serial, so it is some kind of serial port adapter.

the 3.5 inch jack well probably it is not 3.5 inch, it is small & fits none of my equipment ie:-

Mic jack on 1084s
Mic jack/speaker jack on 840av & 7600/132
My sons tape recorder
My personal stereo
my Modem!

Anyone know of small mic type jacks ever being used for serial?

Anyway I do have a 9 pin D serial to 25 pin D serial & this fits to that giving me 8 pin mini din to 25 pin serial, now that's bound to come in handy at some point!

My Kodak DC290 uses an s-video like connecter that is very close to what you have. The other end is USB. My ancient casio camera uses a 3 conductor mini-jack for serial comm to a PC. The Lisa keyboard jack is a standard audio headphone jack size.
