Yes my friends, I have been working on this quite some time, and have finally come to the conclusion that I will go through with it. It is not really a hack persay as in changing anything, other than the entire plastic housing of the newt. I am planning on casting my own new case and plastic parts, and back-painting them white, ala the newer icebooks. If I can sell one or two of these, and if there is demand, I will also go through and make one of the other designs I have, think old iBook.I know I don't have much info here, but thought I would open it up for discussion. Also, who would be interested in buying one of these cases (newt 2k form factor) for $100? ~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Very interesting... From a hackers standpoint, very cool. From a collectors standpoint, still interesting.I don't have a 2k, mine is a 120. I does travel with me. If i had a replacement case, I'd be less worried about scratches and such. As a collector, the process would have to be reversible, which this sounds like it is. The next issue would be the cost. I'd buy a 120 case (I know you said 2k), but $100 sounds a tad steep without seeing the actual product. Can't wait to see some pics. emaq123 SE/30 and system 6.0.8 Now we're talking POWER! |

My MP120 wants one too . Wernt they planning something similar on NTLK, and wernt they asking 200 a pop, ofcourse, I think they were using a profesional plastic molding company. Would the stylus be white?Good ideas usually are created by crazy people, go figure... |

Well, I have had several different refinements in my thinking, and now have a major choice in front of me...To make a case that will allow, or include the keyboard, making it a newton/emat/ibook/2200/message pad... or to just leave it simple. In either case, it is going to be back painted white for sure now. ~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? The "Ultimate" Nweton case is one where all the plastics are new, but still housing old internals. The newt can be kept seperate, or it can be 'docked' with a keyboard that also provides audio in, out, and serial (i don't know if you can provide serial at same time kb is in, check specs and the SER-001). However, the keyboard will be thin, and able to slide behind the main newton. That and much more *drools*~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email?
