Kingman High School requires 40 hours of community service for graduation.I've decided to "do my time" at the Kingman Public Library... it seems nice, I inquired about it today. They were really nice and gave me a packet to fill out and I'll bring it back on Tuesday... I like the idea of the library because I've had experience as a library aide in 8th grade and very much enjoyed the work I got to do there. 1997, the year I graduated, was the first year that all Miami-Dade public high schools schools required community service hours in order to graduate. It was only 25 hours, though. I suspect that many other high school systems are now requiring community service hours...666th poster and 666th thread-creator Lord of the Mac II Series Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 http://www.cinemafia.net |

Volunteering wasn't compulsory at my old school in the UK but you had to have a good reason not to do it!Choosing a good place to volunteer can pay off well. I volunteered at the Edinburgh Royal Botanical gardens (later got me a sucky job in a flower shop . Although I am responsible for one of the features which is still there), but I also volunteered for the national museum of scotland which got me several paid contracts with them over the next few years. Paid well, cool place to work, amazing stories about pickling chameleons being bitten by snakes implaing myself of a 100 yr old scorpion, tape worms, discovering new species and nights at the pub! -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |
