My middle school and high school were getting rid of there older macs today. They had about 30 LC 575, one PPC 544/200, another PPC like 5200, some pizza box macs, 20 or so Classic ||, a Power Book Duo 110 or something, with the big ass dock, 2 Apple laser writers, some other apple printers, 10 or so HP printers, a Apple ||E, some assorted stuff. Most of it was like $3, or $4. But I know the people and all so he gave them to me for free! Well not all of them, just what I took. I got myself the PPC 5400/200, and I got Macscuzzy a LC 575, and a Personal LaserWriter 300, and a SCSI 2 or 4X CD-Rom.If anybody wants one, or 2 of them, I can probily get them for you. Or, if you just need like some RAM or a HD, or the little back that goes on the LC 575 (Cinemofia) than I'll most likly be able to get you one. If nobody wants anything, these are all going to go into a big dumpsteer and smashed into little pieces. Please help me save some older macs. Oh, I just remembered that there is a Apple eMate somewhere at school. I am going to have to see if I can get it. There is also a Power Book 5300 (iThink) somewhere. Humm I'll have to go check on monday morning.And my 5400/200 has a 6GB HD!! Mactracker says that they were shipped with 1.6GB HD. But this one has a 6GB. It has 32MB of Ram (1x16mb,1x8mb, and 8mb on motherboard). It is running 8.1 right now, but I'll either get 8.6 or 9.1 onto it. Smack dab in the middle of Iowa. If you don't want the whole machine, I can get you just a part.I got 9.1 installed on my 5400. Now I got to copy some MP3s and find iTunes to put on it. What is the last version of iTunes that runs in 9? Well I fired up the little LC. It's got 2x 8MB sticks of ram for a total of 20MB. It has a 257.8MB SCSI HD. It had 7.6.x istalled on it so I got rid of that crap and installed 8.1. iTunes 2 is the last version to run in 9, and it does to grandly BTW... vis. effects might not be the est on a 5400 though... they weren't all that jazzy on the iMac (or at least they weren't the fastest)Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

Congrats on the excellent score. I am surprised you did not take the Duo because they are so light and fun (you could get on the Duo bandwagon). I also like to have a pizzabox Mac (or two) as a sacrificial Mac for testing out garage sale stuff. I don't want to plug some scuzzy old SCSI of unknown electrical integrity into one of my main macs. Once the sale is over (and before they become dumpster ballast), you might see if you can strip some of the machines of RAM, HDs, networking cards, etc. Have fun with you new Macs! Well I talked to macscuzzy last night, and tomorrow I am going to take the truck and load up ALL of the computers and other mis. computer parts!!!! We will be sorting through it this week when he gets back home. But today I am going to have to call the princible and see if I can take them all home. I should be able to because he said that if no body takes them, they are all going into the dumpster!! I can't let that happen.Last night I thought that they had alreaddy thrown them away, cause there were 2 big dumpsters sitting in front of were the macs were. But today I checked the dumpsters and they were empty. :) It would have been bad because it has been poring down rain on and off all day. So I still believe that they are inside the building. _____________________________________ Flower Power iMac 500MHz 60gb HD CD-RW 512mb ram 16mb vram 10.2.6 AIO G3 333 OC to 366/66 20+4gb HDs 320mb's ram 6mb vram 10.2.6 6500/225PPC 225MHz 3gb HD 32mb ran8.6 5400/200PPC 200MHz 6GB HD 32mb ram 9.1 |

COOL! Dontcha LOVE it when that happens? Almsot reminds me of that time i saw the 8100 and those monitors here @ uni heading for the garbage bin. I knocked on the office door that the monitors and the 8100 were next to, and in a few minutes later, i found myself walking out with a 14" Colour Display, AppleVision 1710, 14" ColourPlus, and a PM8100. PPC, i know, but i needed the parts for Copland research, plus i've always needed extra monitors. But yeah, nice haul. Well eh not that big. But between my and macscuzzy, we will find a place to store them. When I get them tomorrow, I plan on just putting them in the garage and sorting through them. I'll probily have to make a trip or two to get them all. My guess is that there is 20 LC 575s, 15 Classic ||, 4 Pizza box macs, couple Apple ||e, a few monitors (color and some jut green ones) 6 HP printers, 6 Apple printers, some exturnal SCSI HD's and CD-ROMs, some exturnal 3.5 and 5.25 disk drives, Keyboards and mice for all the computers, random cables and things. There is a ton of stuff there. Oh and there is one Power Book Duo and a DuoDock.
Edit to add the Duo. _____________________________________ Flower Power iMac 500MHz 60gb HD CD-RW 512mb ram 16mb vram 10.2.6 AIO G3 333 OC to 366/66 20+4gb HDs 320mb's ram 6mb vram 10.2.6 6500/225PPC 225MHz 3gb HD 32mb ran8.6 5400/200PPC 200MHz 6GB HD 32mb ram 9.1 Edited by - thepowertoburn on 08 Jun 2003 17:48:22 |

Well I went to get them today, and they were no where in site. So I went and asked the guy i talked to and he didn't know where they were. So we went to go talk to the janitor, maybe he moved them or something. Well we finally found him and asked him where the computers were. He said, "we threw them in the dumpsters" then he said that the garbage men have allready came and taken all of the computers!!!!!!! Got ya!!!! I made all of the above up.
No I really picked them all up. I had to make 2 trips in the truck to get everything. The first trip I got all of the LC 575s and all of the classics, and the mice and keyboard. The second trip I got all of the monitors, 3 PC, some apple ||e's, some pizza box macs, alot of hp and apple printers, oh and alot of 5.25 and 3.5
Ok, here is a rough list of what I got... 3X-Apple ||e 4X-||gs 1X-LC || 3X-LC ||| 1X-SE 1X-Classic 15X-Classic || 12X-LC 575 1X-5400/200 1X-PB Duo 1X-DuoDock 12X-ImageWriter || 1X-Personal LaserWriter 300 1X-Color StyleWriter 8X-HP Printers 3X-Exturnal SCSI CD-ROM 6X-Exturnal 3.5 Floppy Drive 8x-Exturnal 5.25 Floppy Drive 8X-Apple Monitors 4X-PC Monitors 3X-PC's 1X-Small Speakers 1X-Microphone(Apple i Think) 1X-16 Port Ethernet Hub (only 6 ports are good, rest got blown) 2X-Alfa Smarts Lots of keyboards and mice and power cords Well I think that is all I got. If I find anything else I'll post it. 68k's liberated-33 _____________________________________ Flower Power iMac 500MHz 60gb HD CD-RW 512mb ram 16mb vram 10.2.6 AIO G3 333 OC to 366/66 20+4gb HDs 320mb's ram 6mb vram 10.2.6 6500/225PPC 225MHz 3gb HD 32mb ran8.6 5400/200PPC 200MHz 6GB HD 32mb ram 9.1 |
