Are there any video sense pins on the Macintosh Classic?
(the ones that tell the mac what screen is attached)
And can you tweak them to attach a vga monitor to the Logic Board?

B.T.W This is a re-phrased version of my lengthy post on the compact macs Forum.

The Classic has no external video port of any kind, so there is no sense pin.

For details on the internal video circuitry, check out the Mac Plus analog schematics at http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2 (click on the link for schematics). The 128k/512k/Plus/SE/SE30/Classic all share virtually identical video circuitry. I've got notes there on how to hook it up to an external monitor, if you really are determined to do it.

Thanks I Downloaded that acrobat document.

Iv'e actually visited your site before in my mad hunt for certain versions of Mac Os (And A/UX) and even wandered into that directory with the schematics but quickly left not seeing anything interesting.

I wish I could take credit for that terrific website, but I can't --it's the creation of Gamba, who has painstakingly assembled a huge collection of extremely valuable information for those of us interested in maintaining old Macs. He very kindly offered to include my little bit on classic Macs.

I'll eventually get around to updating it, because you are one of several who have asked specifically about the video circuitry. For the record, the video signal sense is positive (i.e., low = black, high = white), and both the horizontal and video circuits sync -- retrace -- on the negative-going edge (i.e., normal sweep occurs when both are high).
