The new server is online.http://liquify.no-ip.org:120/ Right now I am Adding more stuff. It will take a bit to get it all up, but I am slowly getting it back online. So, it will grow slowly, and have fun applications. No username/pass required. I can't guarantee the server will be online 24x7, since this machine is still in beta testing so right now it won't be too reliable. But I am slowly going to try and get it more stable. If anyone has a large SCSI drive they can donate I can put the archives on my Black Hammer server. (Or if you have a converter to convert a IDE drive to SCSI) So, let the downloads begin. :) Great minds...Great minds...Think Different. |

I used to run a huge archive server with roughly 4GB of 68k and Mac stuff.I transfered it to another server to offload the load on my machine but now that I have another server it's a little easier to keep things together. I am looking on eBay to see if there are any good drives I can plug in the server. If anyone wants to donate a few dollars, drives show up on ebay under 20 dollars that are at least 4-9GB. :) Great minds...Great minds...Think Different. |

I am going to sort the archive a little more today. If any links are broken it means the name is wrong or in an unsupported variant, the listing you get is an actual directory listing not a pre-made html file, so I will go in today and fix the names of the files to windows specific.More will arrive soon. :) Viva la 68k! 4GB would be large enough. Most assuredly. There are a whole bunch of clasic games that require more space like Sam & Max, Day Of The Tentacle and others. As well many of the older OS'es like AUX, Rhapsody, Mac OS X Beta and others also need more room. The hard drive would make it possible for the archive to be truly 24x7 without interuptions, this will be due to the fact that my PC is my main work machine and even though I don't mind having it on, at night I am now trying to keep it off as it's loud as ever...my Quadra server is very quiet. Plus the PC isn't as stable as my Quadra. The Quadra has been on for over 4 days so far and it just silently enjoys life but my PC chugs over a hill and collapses on the other side. If you would like to discuss a possible donation etc., just e-mail and we can talk. I don't have any money right now, so I wouldn't be able to help chip in with the cost of shipping or anything...so I'll let you decide etc. But, if you did donate the drive, it would mean that the archive would be 24x7. Also, I just thought I would mention to users that if they have extra Ram chips (16/32) etc., that they would like to donate, my server currently runs with 32MB of RAM with Ram doubler, so it could use a few good chips to enhance it so it doesn't run out of memory. For those who do donate, you will recieve a lifetime membership on my Tempest Server, and will have a higher quota then normal acounts to store files on. Thanks. :) Great minds...Great minds...Think Different. |

Interesting. Can you legally put up old versions of commercially-available products for free download? For that matter, can you make any copyrighted software available to the general public without the owner's permission? And if you do, are you not exposing yourself to potentially ruinous civil liability and even criminal prosecution?Just asking. I don't know the answers to these questions, but I sure wouldn't do it without finding out. /Mr Lynn The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn’t have a space program. --Larry Niven |

Many of the titles are abandonware, from companies that no longer exist, and the companies who purchased thier assets are not going to make a fuss over a 10 year old program.Yes it is a risk, but the fact is that one reason so many 68k archives have still survived is because the platform is considered dying by industry experts, and the fact Apple wants nothing more to do with 68k's. So, it is a very unlikely chance that anything will happen. I'm willing to take that risk. The worst that can happen is that they send me a letter saying take it down. And in that case, I take said archive down. :) Great minds...Great minds...Think Different. |
