This is even worse than anything a mac. vs. PC battle could do...THIS is SETI VS. FOLDING!!! I'm serious... ok so here's what happens I go to MacNN IRC for the first time in my life right? and I'm having fun... and I mention that I run SETI (just casually...) and this guy says "folding is better" and I say "nah... aliens are more fun than some disease:" then he IMs me (stupid me used the same name as always I do on AIM) and he calls me immature, he asks if "someone related to me" has alsheimers he claims that if I run folding, even when all the WUs are probably duplicate now or whatever... I'll be that magically my old people will be cured of all pain because I'm FOLDING with my computer... so basically... he warns my AIM account to 35% and calls me (well I'm better than to bring the one word that stood out, to the MLA) it was for letters, started with a C and ended with a T that just... that's even worse than the night I dealt with the windozer (who is now friendly again)... so basically, that was a Public Service Rant? about how people behave over a thing like... God....thats more dumb than the stupid Mac vs PC debate!!!! There really are some people in this world that need to just get a life and Shut Up.™ And besides, when we find alien life, he's not gonna be a part of it. On top of that, why would you want to lose all your WUs?"**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

Sorry to hear about your adventure with the fanatical folder - just goes to show you how people can become stark raving obsessed with the strangest things. Joke will be on that fanatical folder if his WUs turn out to be ones that lead to some useless cosmetic treatment that only the rich can afford -- like something that helps keep the coats of little lapdogs looking sleek and shiny.BTW, I wonder how much extra electricity is consumed by these background processes? With the CPU more loaded than it otherwise would be, the computer would consume more power than it otherwise would. My guess is that each added watt consumed by the CPU adds about $1 dollar to the yearly electricity bill. Its not a big deal if the computer is going to be on anyway, but its not free. Hmmmmm.... I wonder if SETI can be considered a charity so can I claim a tax deduction on it ....
