Well, folks, as you might have gathered from the thread topic, I'm posting this from my 'new' IBM Pentium-II box I picked up a few weeks back. I'd been having zero luck getting any of my old external modems to work with this system, but yesterday, I managed to find a cheapie WinModem at the local Goodwill for $5, and, after some serious trials and tribulations getting the modem's drivers installed on the system (had to download the drivers on my PowerBook G4, and then somehow get them to the PC - I ended up creating a network between VirtualPC with Win2k and the Win98 IBM box... whew!), I finally got it setup and working with my crappy Earthlink Dialup service... and I'm posting from the IBM! Don't get me wrong - I'm hardly abandoning my Mac-loving ways, but it's fun having another modern(ish) system to play around with... Okay, that's about it. Later! SpaceBoy PS Thanks again, Kady Mae - I couldn't have done this without you and your generosity! :-)Official MLA Raconteur AppleBASIC FOREVER! lol, i'll agree with you there. 98 is FAR from fun! Unless, of course, you like system crashes, in which case i reccommend you go buy an Ipex RIGHT NOW! WIndows 2k rocks!NT4 should FLY on that machine, and with a big enough hard drive would make a great external hard drive for your computers to share. Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

Space Boy, glad to hear you got it up and running! Now, here's the key to keeping it stable: Never ever update IE. In fact, don't use IE. Use Netscape or Opera. Also, don't use Windows Media Player. 68K's liberated: 4 68Ks adopted to loving homes: 2 PowerMacs adopted: 1 |

What's so bad about that? My Classic II was an IW type machine for a while, doing the exact same thing. "**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |
