Went to a great garage sale on Saturday -- stuff was cheap or free so I loaded up.GatorBox (IP-over-Appletalk router w/ manual & software) -- $4 Powerbook HDI-Centronics SCSI Cable -- $2 5 PhoneNet connectors -- $1 Koala MacVision (B/W video digitizer) -- FREE 6 HardDisks (520,520,207,204,80,40) -- FREE Kodak DC40 camera (box, software, works) -- FREE Misc internal SCSI cables, terminators, SIMMs, etc. -- FREE Solbourne S4000 (Sun-compatible pizzabox w/ dual graphics boards) -- FREE Joke's on me, though, with the Gatorbox because it only has BNC and DB-15 ethernet interfaces (I'll have to see if DB-15 can be converted to standard RJ45). I don't know what I'm going to do with the Solbourne S4000 -- the software for it is on one of the free HDs, but I don't have a monitor for it. I'm most excited by the Koala MacVision and the Kodak DC40. Hope everyone's having great weekend. Transceivers are available, they've been pointed out on eBay when the question has come up before. Maybe, check the docs on AUI and AAUI pinouts and signals to see if they are similar enough to adapt one you might already have on hand?jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. bnc monitors are cheap,........., now I know that her(UK) we have our lovley scart connection, the deal being that you can buy the following, bnc to Scart cable Scart block(more than one scart socket enabling throughput) then scart to composite/svideo/bnc I recently hacked myself a scart to RGB(9 pin) cable, though the picture was hazy/fuzzy I think this is due to my inept hacking. I believe that scart could go also to SVGA. Question being do you have scart where you come from?, I guess you could import. shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive os 8.1 128 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive PPC7600/132, 4.23Gig & 500 Meg drives, 8X cd os 8.6 Performa400(deadintheattick) 3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" |

Thanks for the suggestion -- I'll Google/EBay and see what I find. Double joke is on me because I also snagged (for free) a DB-15 to BNC transceiver at that garage sale. So now I have two ways to connect the GatorBox to a RG-58 ethernet network -- but no 10Base2 network. Thanks for the idea, I'll have to learn more about scart. Over here in the colonies, we don't have scart. Must be something that mother England invented so that they could watch programmEs on coloUr TV.G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent

Are you ready for this? Drum roll, please. . . . . . . . . . 0.4 Megapixels! w00t! At a whomping 756 x 504, its not about the replace my main digicam (a 5 Mpix Minolta Dimage 7), but the Kodak DC40 is a fun toy. Its like the difference between a happy-snappy instamatic and a real SLR -- fun to just take pictures of the joy of it when you don't really care if they will come out or not. I haven't had a chance to download the pictures that I have taken with the thing, so we will see if the quality is OK. G4From128k

I went to the swap meet yesterday and I didn't see ANYTHING good...the time before that though, I got the CSW 2200 and saw other junk like a 61XX and apple printers and loads of disks and keyboard and there was this guy who thought he'd be able to fetch no less than $50 for an apple multiple scan 15" (in WA, I could pick up hoardes of those for $5 at RePC if I wanted to) I'm not even sure if it was the 17" MS... maybe a 16" mac color display... and that's like just what... 832 by 634 fixed res? ohwell... it would work for the IIsi Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

Actually, without an adapter, none fo them would work on the IIsi. The MS17" and 15" do support 640x480, but are multiscan displays, which the IIsi's video chip doesn't support. The 16 incher is fixed sync, but the IIsi don't support 640x480."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

actually the IIsi does support that resolution, it's just multiscanning they don't support... IIRC, from my "mac book of 1993" or whatever it's called... it'll work at the 832 by 624 in like... black and white... (iTHINK) I remember that the LC could drive that monitor... not even upped VRAM methinks... (dunno though) the LC suports multiscanning also.. they worked with the 15" MS-AV... That's too bad. I know how that goes. Sometimes I will go to a month's worth of garage sales and swap meets and find absolutely nothing of interest. This past weekend was a rare good exception. I even saw 3 old LC's at 3 different sales. But with $10-$15 asking price for each one, 68020 processors, and 40 MB HDs, none of them were worth it. Besides I feared that SAF would be low if I brought home yet another computer in addition to the largish Solbourne and two boxes of kibbles'n'SCSIbits. hehehe... first: the 16" display is a single-scanning display..yeah I know that the MS 15, 17, 14 and 15av don't work with my IIsi... so maybe they don't work with the LCs... I was wrong about that one... but there must have been something.... yeah :P I don't have SAF... but I guess that my brother also affects junk that I do... I KNOW that the 16" is a fixed scan display. However, the LCII does not support 832x624, the required res for the 16" Colour Display."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

we're talking about the IIsi, and yeah, my LCII barely supported 640 by 480... so I know what you mean...Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

IIRC, the highest res supported by the IIsi is the res that the Portrait uses."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |
