Hey everyone. i'm doing every 68k users a favour.
I'm gonna build a website supporting and hosting 68k softwares.
it's gonna be very profesionnal and no broken links, no banner or
popups, only a small line ad.
i'll update it constantly, weekly if not daily.

here what you can help, suggest any software that is worth downloading. everything included, utilities and games. i would appreciate anything that is really worth it. this is my dedication to 68k computers. i would do my best to keep it updated.

my purpose is this: to host really really good software that is necessary for every 68k users. you know, like resedit, simple text, graphic converter, everything.

note that i only have 30 MB disk space. so it's really limited.

please do help. your tribute would bring good things to all of us.
long live 68ks!!!

pojam.
p/s: here's the sneak preview of my up coming site.

ResEdit
GraphicConverter
BOLO!
Spectre/Spectre VR
Glider
F/A-18 Hornet 1 (works GREAT on '030s! )
ClarisWorks 4 (works on anything from the Mac Plus onwards)
Some old version of Norton Utilities, 3.0 is excellent, and has saved my LCIII's @$$ several times

No offense, but your dream has already been done. Laxx, a member here is the administrator of the Retromac68k hotline server (retromac68k.dyndns.org l/p - retro/retro). It has several GIGS of 68k software - nearly any title you could ever want. And some Be OS stuff too

Also, the 68k MLA itself has its own official server (which is currently in the process of being re-tooled for FTP and AppleShare) that has some things Laxx's server doesn't - like service manuals and the like.

So? Whats wrong with a HTTP server for Wintel-bound campus netted people like me who can't do AFP, FTP or Hotline?

Even if both places serve the same exact files its always better to have mirrors since sites do go down

Yes. More accessability to the archives is always better.

I'm just trying to save people time so that they don't spend the rest of their lives building up a server when there are already excellent ones out there.

I aggree with Unknown_K - What would be a good idea would be to work with Laxx to mirror his Hotline server via HTTP. Then I could download ridiculously large files at school without being a shadeball and using Hotline and FTP (ports which are heavily monitored)

Once i get this (paragraph of explatives deleted) server working properly, HTTP will also be available for my end. I will be happy to share some files with you po, possibly mailing a large portion on CD if needed.

hey, I have a suggestion!!!

QuarkXPress!!

LOVE THAT PROGRAM!!!

anyway... I agree with "everyone" that while it would be good to have more *mirrors* we shouldn't be spending our whole lives creating our ownnew other servers...

I think that none of the 68k archives are completely complete (because none of themhave QuarkXPress) but combined, all of them are wonderfully equipped to handle any liberator's need for good, cool and useful software to bring *EVEN MORE* life back into those older machines that we love so much...

If enough people say they want my server back I am going to put it back online.

I will do a mixture of protocalls so folks can pick and choose. :)

hehehe...yeah... I've always wanted an abandonware archive... I keep one on my 7300 for my personal use... but otherwise I've never been able to keep a single server up for more than... well long enough to really be noted..

except IW3 lived for about 4-5 weeks once :-\

Terriffic! One other package i didn't suggest before that you could serve is A/UX. I know that there are probably many people here (like me) that want it, but have no access to FTP or Hotline. Either way, it sounds like this is going to be one fantastic server!

My suggestion is for you to include Internet utilites on this server. We need to be able to find the old versions of IE, ICQ, Eudora, Anarchie, and other rarities that are not stored or easy to find elsewhere like the InfoMac mirror sites.
Also the Other Browsers Mosaic, MacWeb, WannaBe, Netshark or WebSurfer. Don't bother with the timed-out iCab or easier to find Netscape.
