I LOVED my 840av when I had one... I had an Apple AudioVision 14" monitor and an Apple Adjustablekeyboard hooked to mine and it was basically the coolest 68k anyone could ever want EverLast, as it were, didn't last forever as it were... I will never again swap mac speakers!!! Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

your quadra is an experience, still a machine, but also more than that...the quadra experience, for alot of us, is not simply just the quadra, but other things like UBER addin cards, large monitors, extravagent - but still possible uses, nice keybaoards, "ROCK'N speakers" and other things... My Quadra experience only had a 14" monitor, but it was an Apple AudioVision 14" AV monitor, with some of the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. In addition, My Quadra experience had an Apple Adjustable keyboard as the main input device... I also had things like a 56k modem and a nice desk... (nice by my terms at least) I'm sure that my Quadra Experience would be very much different had I used my Quadra with a 12" RGB monitor, OS 7.1, an Apple Keyboard II and ADB mouse I (all of which belong on an LC or a IIsi, not a quadra (per se) ) Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

Thank you for the assistance.I feel the spirit of my new machine everytime I turn it on. What a feeling. I only remember this when I first turn on my SGI Indy. I also added a adjustable keyboard, looks so extravagant. All my comrades are envious. A good Monitor like 14`AV or 17`av seems hard to find, but I keep searching and exploring more muddy cellars. private lightsurfer, at your command, Sir! I dont like signatures |

Good luck! If you really want a nice monitor that your 840AV really does deserve more than any other display, try finding a good AppleVision 1710 or 1710AV. Now, a bunch of these have had problems, which means that many of them are in dumpsters, or are going into dumpsters. However, if you're lucky, like me, you can sometimes find a "broken" one, that has a couple of little problems, that aren't very bad. I have one where the bottom sort of flickers for a while, but then comes good, and stays that way for the rest of the day. I got that from a dumpster. I also have another one that sometimes goes a bit weird with the colours, but is otherwise fine. I got that from a dumpster, too. They are fantastic monitors. They use a 17" Sony Trinitron display, and can take full advantage of your Quadra's video capabilities. It can go all the way up to 1280x1024 at 75 Hz, which is the max supported resolution. However, I've been able to run mine at 1600x1200 at 60 Hz, although it sometimes does scary things at that resolution. And if you can get a 1710AV, they have fantastic speakers! So, if you want the REAL "Quadra Experience" as Cory puts it, get a 1710 or 1710AV. They are fantastic monitors. I know. But like i said, sometimes if you're lucky enough, you can get a "broken" one...broken like as in "I didn't test this, but i think it's broken", but actually works. I've gotten two really nice ones that way.
