 Big Brother Rant! Grrrrrrr!

Most of you probably like somewhere in America, so you might not have this rubbish on TV. Or, you might... Some of you live in Australia, and know what I am talking about...
Every night, at about 7:00 (here in Australia), big brother comes onto channel 10 (for those of you who dont know, its a real-life show, where housemates have to live together in one house, and EVERYTHING is filmed). Some of the best shows were on at that time on channel 10, like Becker, Everyone Loves Raymond, etc... Well, not since the 4THBig brother came to "haunt" channel 10, they've all been cancelled to make room for that crap show!
And that is not the end to my rant... It says in the TV magazine that Big Brother is supposed to finish at 7:30, instead it goes over until about 7:45 sometimes, cutting out 15 minutes of the next show. And, some nights, the TV guide says something like 7:00-Big Brother, 8:00-Becker (hour), 9:00 Raymond, well, channel 10 have taken it upon themselves to put at 7:00- Big brother, then at 8:00- Big Brother "The Eviction", and then to top it all off, at 9:00-Big Brother "UNCUT"!!!
And they wonder why their TV viewer ratings have dropped!

Well, that about concludes my "rant" for this evening.

Please dont reply saying something like "someone has way to much time on their hands" like some idiot posted in another topic before. Whats the point to that? And come on, im 15, Tv plays a very important role in my life!

AND, (coming near the end now) channel 10 even had the nerve to cancel SEINFELD!!!!!

That's anal... We don't have it that bad here in my area of America. Write the station and tell them you're upset and tell them why. I need to do that with one of the stations around here who canceled "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" and "Remington Steele" Two of the coolest shows ever. They cancled them so they could have "PAX original programming" I'll give them Pax original programming!

Yer I rekon.
Some of these TV companies have absolulty no idea.
I mean, this is (believe it or not) the 4TH big brother!
The first Big brother was ok, because they didnt go overboard, the second was "yer, we've seen this before, show us something we havn't seen", the 3rd was Celebrity Big Brother (Channel 10 trying something new, which backfired, and was absolutle crap, and now the 4th which is an absolute joke!
Dont these idiots get the message that we have had enough Big Brother?
It's just a big waste of time and money that channel 10 could be spending on something at least half decent!

Sorry for rambling on, but I get really angry when these shows "take over" TV.

Actually, this is only the 3rd Big Brother - unless you count Celebrity Big Brother. I havn't been watching it either - I was so busy avoiding the TV tonite, I forgot that Charmed was on. Allyssa Milano mmmmmmm

I really didn't like big brother... it hasn't been in the northwest of the USA since like... 3 years ago... I don't like many of these stupid reality shows....

are the channels in AUS kinda.. like nationalised? like channel 7 and 10 in the whole country??

gee.. wish the USA was like that

Yeah, the channels are nationalised. Well, sort of, anyway. Some places have different stuff at different times.

TechTV is my favorite TV channel on satellite... as if we'll ever have that again though

Fox is on Austar, a Pay TV network. We don't get TechTV though.

Although it has little to do with anything else in this thread, the original series of the TV show Big Brother was taped in a studio in Van Nuys just a couple blocks from where I lived from '98-'00.

Its actually a great relief having big brother on, it means no crappy American sitcoms, I mean friends was one thing but Raymond and Becker are the shi*iest shows on TV. Actually no offence but Australian TV is pretty crap, the worst of everything. The limited number of channels as in the UK and the crappest of American TV programming with some truly Awful Australian stuff and advertorials!!!!!!! Skit house?!!!, the sketch show, jokes that only carry them selves because they are so blatantly ripping off every other program.

I thought TV in the UK was bad but having 2 channels with no adverts a reasonable mix of programs seems like heaven now.

I've actually started watching ABC a bit now, although they seem to have a fairly limited budget the programmes obiously have more than 1 or 2 braincells behind them.

No way. Channel 7 ROCKS! Its mainly Channel 9 i hate, because it's....well....Mordor$oft. And ABC is....well....boring most of the time.

I have an idea for Big Brother that might actually make it cool to watch.

1) The house is constructed in such a way that every week the ceiling drops an inch and the walls move in 1 inch.

2) Every 5 days, the temp goes up 1 degree. The house starts at 82f.

Now that would make for some interesting viewing.

In reply to first post, big brother is mostly crap, but at least seinfeld was cancelled & indeed we echo that less crappy american sitcoms has got to be a blessing.

UK tv sounds pretty ok, but when they got nowt else to put on they just put those crap american tv comedys on, honestly not counting bbc I reckon about 70% of our programming is american.

Trust me Shak, UK TV is no where near as bad as I thought, having experienced TV in many lands I can honestly say we have it good in the UK despite my previous thoughts. We also had quality documentaries thanks to the BBC and C4.

To top it off Australian presenters are pretty crap, especially the ones littering home improvement/renovation/house & gardens shows.

Another thing I really despise is a way a lot of the programs are "buddies" so at towards the end of one programme the start talking about their buddies in another totally unrelated program thats coming on next. Channel 10 has turned all there supposed quality actors in to a bunch of puppets that sing and dance the praises of 10.

Bert Netwon is the most arogrant smarmy %^&* I have seen on TV in a long time. During interviews he says things like "Oh yes, I'm sure that's a great book, although I haven't read it yet".

Incidentally for those that like 9 according to MX it received the most complaints, I think 60 minutes with its scandalous reporting and Australias funniest home videos with it's hideous over dubbed irelevant commentary were in the top 10.

Australian presenters could learn a lot just by watching Blue Peter...

In fact anyone in the UK that wants a good example of Australian programming should sit and watch Channel 5 (at least those that can get it, will they ever have 100% coverage) and flick over to the other channels when neighbours/home and away/latest crappy america drama/sitcom comes on.

Look there are a lot of good things about Australia but the TV sucks. I suspect this has a lot to do with the fact that Australia has a climate more condusive to going outside and doing stuff than the UK and as such less effort is put in to TV, where as in the UK I'm sure a lot of people depend on TV during the awful weather.
