if you remember a while back i said i was designing and building an analog synthesizer... well, im back to bother y'all about it again...

My syntheizer "company" needs a name, and i've come up with two really good candidates and cant choose between them.

- Llamasonics
- Llamatronics

which one of these is a better name to go on a synthesizer?

Thats kind of the name i was leaning towards...

the synth will hopefully end up looking like some of the bigger systems at the bottom of this page:

hehehe i'll definitely need it.

actually, this really isnt that hard; the modules i can't design and build myself i can just buy the PCB's and then put my own front panels on them... but the Llamasonics Modula-1 is on its way

Kick arse. I'm having a lot of fun with my Oxygen 8 through Reason and then Spark XL, all the sound of analog but with the pradictability of digital, but it would be fun to plunk around on a good 'ol analog again.

Ever fire up an ARP 2600? You can play one of those for days and never hear the same sound twice!

MIDI... eeeew... the cheesy generic MIDI sounds of the past 15 years make me want to vomit...

no, cine, ive never used a 2600, although i HAVE played a minimoog... next to a giant Moog modular thats gotta be one of the coolest synths ever...

oh and i work at a shop that makes signs and trophies and that sort of stuff... so i can get the front plates to my synth modules FREE! yaay!

If you can build me a MIDI controller that will work with the actual manuals, pedals, and drawbars from a Hammond organ, I will be very impressed indeed!

Anybody wanna provide some free web space for a site/weblog of the creation process?

i would register with some free webspace provider but... THERE ARENT ANY GOOD ONES LEFT!

hehehe cinemo, maybe llamasonics.cinemo.net?

EDIT: err... perhaps llamasonics.cinemafia.net would be better, seeing as how thats the address of your site...

I'd provide webspace if my IW were up... and when it goes up, the offer still stands... (I don't know how to set quotas in linux, or even how to work the thing... doofsmack does it all usually... so no quota probably

how much will it cost when you mass produce it? other than that I have no objections to buying one [;P]

mass production? with a modular synth? man, not even Moog and E-Mu mass produced modulars back in the day! thats almost impossible!

im figuring the average module price will be $100, higher for some, lower for most...

but once again, i'll probably NEVER sell one, so dont start saving up or anything...

Actually, since they now have this great softsynth called B4 for the Mac, I was thinking that you could take just the manuals and drawbars, MIDIfy them, and put them in a somewhat lighter case. Maybe even leave a compartment for a laptop.

Indeed. MIDI sounded nice back in 1995, but for a sound format, its dead now. MP3 ALL DA WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

heh...

I lately have done most of my HTML work in just HTML...

catsdorule made a great lil' program but he hasn't updated it :-\

I find that it's too hard to move into the code that a graphic layout program made... dunno, that's just me though :-\
