My third liberation from the Disabled Veterans Thrift Store in Burbank is a slightly beat-up LC 475 with 20MB of RAM, 512k of VRAM and a 2.2GB hard drive. All for only $10! Now if I can just get one of those illusive 128MB 72-pin RAM SIMMs off ebay, along with a full '040, this little thing'll cook! 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

Geez, nice find, especially that big hard drive (My 1400 has a 2 gigger...). Btw, a 128 meg SIMM is just not going to work in there i'm afraid, as the Mac won't support that much RAM. What you could do, however, is put in a 32 meg 72 pin SIMM. Make sure however, that you only buy single sided SIMMs, as SIMMs with chips on both sides won't fit in the diagonal socket.-------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! According to LEM, it's one of those exceptions where it will recognize 64MB and 128MB SIMMs, so long as they're single-banked. I've only found one auction for 128's on eBay, but they're only sold Dutch in pairs for $50. Maybe if another member has a Quadra 605/LC 47x and wants one we could go half and half? Now I just need to nab one of these 25Mhz 040's along with that! 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! Ahhh, nevermind JT. I was just looking at that auction again, and as you can tell from the two bottom pics, which in effect show both sides of one SIMM, the chips are double-banked.Christ...I may never find a single-banked 128MB SIMM! I suppose a 64 megger would have to do. They're pretty easy to find on eBay, and even go pretty cheap like these, though I'll have to email the seller to figure out whether they're single-banked. 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

Oh yeah, just a note, Crucial sells 128MB single-banked 72-pin SIMMs for $200, but that would be ridiculous.666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

can anybody verify that the 64mb modules do NOT work with the Quadra 650? That was kinda shady, as they only tested the Centris version-------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |

Good question. Assuming that I will eventually be getting at least one 64MB 72-pin SIMM, if anybody has a Q650 they want to donate to science, I can test it in it and find out!666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

i'm so curious!! but i'd rather not spend 60 bucks getting 4 64mb modules then having to return them if my Quadra doesn't recognize them-------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |

Will they work in a 605, 610/660, 630, or 6290? If they will, I'll buy them from you if they don't work in your Quadra. jt

I'll have to re-consider getting more RAM when I have some cash-money I just realized if it didn't work, I could just stick them in my q605 and perf6116 -------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |
