When I went in to a Comp usa recently, I used the new duel 1.43, with the 23" cinema display. Boy it was dissapointing to have to go home to my 17" CRT. Anyone want to morgage their house and buy me a 23"?

Is the 23" the LCD display? I hear those things get screwy a year or so after you buy them. LCD monitors (at least the ones made in the last fey years) dont have the life of the good old perfected CRT.

I got my 22" Cinema before the big price drop. It's about a year and a half old. It's still just as great as the day I got it. I plan on using it for the better part of 10 years before I replace it. As with all things, you get what you pay for. I'd say the weak part of the lcd is the backlight. If I'm not using mine, it is off. I hope that this will protect the display longer. As I own notebooks with 7 year and older displays that look fine, I don't see this as a problem.

I'm not sure where you heard this from. I dont think the 23 has even been out for a year either. I could be wrong. I have heard nothing but good things about all of apple's lcd's.

Shut Up.™

No I haven't, and I've never seen one IRL, either. If i did, however, it would probably die an early death because of all the drool from my mouth.

I saw the new eMac -- it looks very nice -- but did not try the keyboard. I spent the better part of 2 hours glued to the 23" display and playing around with OS X. Even on the dual 1 GHz tower, everythng was quite snappy under 10.2.5.

My wife took a turn at the 12" PB and pronounced the keyboard as being good, although she says she will have to get used to the longer keystroke travel on 12" G4 vs. her old Pismo. She also really liked the light Aluminum finish on the new PB -- she thinks her Pismo is just too big and black.

Regarding the life of Apple LCDs, my 22" Cinema display (a pre-ADC model) is over 3 years old and still going strong (no dead pixels and no dimming of the backlight).
