Yes, it is possible to connect the Classic II to the Internet, but it will be slow, and nowhere near as easy as it would be on a modern Mac. How much RAM has it got, and how big is the hard drive? Also, how good are you with setting up the Internet on older Macs? If you're not very good with older Macs, it may be a good idea to get an external CD-ROM drive and track down a copy of the Apple Internet Connection Kit and use that to get online, as it's a pretty simple package. Also, as for what modem you'll need, you will need an external modem that plugs into a Mac serial port.Hope this helps! -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

It sounds as if you might want to check out the terrific material that Jag has put together. Thanks to his info, I was able to get my old Plus online. See http://www.jagshouse.com -- it's not a well organized site, but everything is there. As maclover said, it'll be somewhat slow, but full of charm. :-) I recommend surfing with Netscape 2.02. It's got enough modern features to render most pages acceptably well, but it's compact enough not to stress the cpu and memory limits of an old mac too much. See gamba's site for a very complete collection of old browsers. http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2 Good luck and have fun!
