I finally used the "Gamba" patched disk tools to format my non-apple Quantum 1080S as I could not get the 7.6 disk to install from my AppleCD SC. Now I get the warning that I don't have a FPU installed. I have an Asante co-processor card on the MacIIsi, so what is the problem. I get the same story if I copy system 7.1 files to the HD and try and install that way. Very strange.
I was hoping to do a similar install from the SC on to the q950, which also has non-apple drives - an IBM 4.3 and a Quantum 4.3 Gb, but I can't even get things going from the si!! Any suggestions? Thanks.

I sorted out the problem, sort of. It seems that the CD SC is just too slow to do a cd install. I finally managed to copy the 7.5.3 downloaded install files from the cd on to the HDD that was to be installed and that did the trick. Finally a "self-installed" version on one of my macs.
