Anyone ever buy from http://www.softwareandstuff.com/ ? Lots cheap SCSI drives.... Was wondering about any actual experiences buying from them, good or bad. It would seem like you got a good deal. That seems kinda cheap for that big of a drive.-------------------- Christophillis- Portable Squadren Commander 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Total 68k Macs Liberated: 6.02x10^23 Or just 6 |

Well they are 5.25" full height (takes up 2 cdrom bays). So what are you going to install these suckers in?

I have a highly modified Q950 in a 14 ga steel case, with a 2 stage power supply, 9 1/2 height drive bays.... has a Daystar PPC601 in it, and it'll git up 'n' go, if ya tell it to.(I sound lika a kid from the late 1950s talking about his 52 Mercury!) Used to have pix of it on Yahoo, but recently tossed them out; you can't see it today. I call it the UberQ950, in my sig. A scsi tower case would be more practicle, with a raid card in your Q950I have an external case i got a long time ago with a 9gb 5.25 fh drive in it, was thinking of getting 1 42gb drive to replace it, would be enough storage to dump movie captures in or store images of every 68k app made.

The case I have is custom, not the stock Q950 case. Has 9 bays, each bay is 1/2 height. That means I have an extra bay available. Raid? Too pricey for me to buy a raid card. Unless a generous donor crops up and offers a suitable card, this will be nonRaid.quote: I have an external case i got a long time ago with a 9gb 5.25 fh drive in it, was thinking of getting 1 42gb drive to replace it, would be enough storage to dump movie captures in or store images of every 68k app made.

You can get a NuBus SCSI card (there's an ATTO SiliconExpress on eBay for $50 Buy It Now, bid is at $25) and use FWB Hard Disk Toolkit to set up a striped RAID. Not too expensive at all.Official 68kMLA Music and NeXT Expert Macs Liberated: SE (2), LC, IIsi, PB 145b, Quadra 700 (2), LC 575, 6100 (2), PB 5300, PowerMac 5400/200, Performa 6400/180 PCs liberated from Windoze: 3 |
