.....on my bike.

I was on my bike, coming back from university when all of a sudden, I saw a bike coming in the opposite direction. Of course, I was going at the fastest possible speed, so i try and slow down. However, I couldnt' see what he was going to do, so i swerved off the bikeway and let him pass....if i had waited i think i really would've gotten myself into a head-on collision.

Close.

You mean you were on a road and a bike was coming the opposite way?!

I got "T-boned" by a car once while I was riding a ten-speed. Fun feeling as you get lofted up into the air before crashing down on the hood just to bounce off back to the pavement. I'd probably have been pissed at the driver for not seeing me if it hadn't been raining so hard. Since it was pouring out and he seemed genuine in his concern when he got out, I just dismissed it.

I think your experience would have been more painful if you connected, with all the limbs and bike frames pucnhing into each other.

We were both on the bikeway. I was going a tad too fast. End of story.

Btw, Stryder, I almost got into a T-Bone collision, too. I was goign a tad too fast near the pedestrian crossing and got really close to T-Boning an on-coming Ford Festiva.

Huh? Oh no, this happened over ten years ago when I was 18. There wasn't any damage to the car or the bike with the exception of the bikes chain popping off. The only thing I suffered with was a sore butt-cheek from the landing. I just got up and went into work.

My worst ever cycling accident involved another bike, to cut a long long story short I was on a cycling path waiting for a friend to catch up and looking back for him, i wasn't moving i had my feet on the ground. I turned forwards and saw a guy on a road bike coming towards me, there was no way he would get past without slowing down. There was less than a foor wide gap to get passed me because of all the children on he path and steep slope on the other side.

He didn't even try and slow down and by the time I realised it was too late. He swore at me got back on his bike and rode off. Some people asked if i was OK and I said i was dine and began to ride on. He must have been doing 35+ MPH when he hit me.

I didn't want to look at my hand it had been crushed between my handlebars and his, I figured there would just be a really nasty bruise. A few seconds later my friend caught up and asked what happened.

Before I had even begun he said "look at your hand", I did and almost fell off my bike it had been ripped open from the middle of my right (forgot name, finger in from the pinky) to the middle of the back of my hand.

We figured it must have been the drop down break levers on his bike that went in to my hand. It was totally covered in blood but it had set very quickly, a very large peice of skin was now flapping in the wind.

We were going to a friends house anyway but it took us almost half an hour to get there. Luckily i can ride with no hands! My friend however spent the entire time telling me about how I was going to need stiches and tetenis(sp?) shots!

When we got there a friend and her mum gave me a lift to hospital, it took another half hour because of the traffic.

When we got there I had to spend ages getting forms filled out. I eventually made it to the waiting room with my friend. After a few minutes someone came and bandaged my hand, as she was walking away the dressing fell off, I called her back but she told me just to hold it on, it was only so other people couldn't see it!!!!!

2 hours later I was finally seen and given 14+ stiches (don't remember exactly but there are at least 14 scars on my hand just from the stiches)...

We were all supposed to be going out that evening but because I had to go to hospital I was late. When i got to the take away everyone else had ordered and I had to carry my tray upstairs. I could only use one hand to do this because of the pain. half way up the stairs my drink began to slide off the tray, I made a grab for it with my right hand, as my hand spread out I almost ripped all the stiches out!

Afterwards we went to the cinema but i don't remember much because of all the pain killers.

To top it off all this happened a week before my school exams. I refused to use a scribe so they gave me extra time for all my exams. i still finished earlier than most but the time really paid off in geography which involved tons and tons of writing, my hand actually started bleedind during the exam!

Anyway several years later I have a really cool V shaped scar and a great story!
