How does one become a moderator of a section of the forum?
I rekon moderating part of the forums would be aswesome! particularly the Mac II line.

your chances are slim to none....

I've been vying for one of these positions for awhile... they picked some new mods recently but the current mods (and our admin/leader ~Coxy) haven't acted upon this yet....

Damn.
It would be a fir bit of work, but not really for the II line, because there is like only 3 topics (and they are all mine!)

Also, I am a "starting member", to become a step above that do you have to submitt a certain amount of posts, or be a member for ages or what?

No, you can't request a subtitle from ~Coxy. He only does that for mods. Not to brag, or anything....

Best advice to getting to be a mod:
Don't try to be one, or get the position.

Just be yourself, hang out on the forums, and contribute to the environment. I mean yeah I'm interested in mod'in the newt forum or some such small place, but don't go out of your way too much trying to get attention and to be one.

Well said, Penguin. Or you could just be like TiMacLover. Any other fellow veterans remember the "TiWannaBeAModMode"? He kept nagging us to make him a mod. He eventually got it...we gave it to him to shut him up, i believe.

Actually, he was constantly acting up and ready to quit . . .

Ti was advised to grow up, to drop the attitude and the wanna_be_a_mod campaign, to roll up his shirtsleeves and concentrate on being as helpful as possible . . . veterans will also remember him specializing in unearthing difficult to locate goodies for others, he did so on a regular basis and contributed to the discussions very positively for quite some time between the the wanna_be_a_mod incidents and his eventual promotion.

I've said on many occassions in chats, that good things come to those who deserve it.

There are a bunch of people I'd definatly like to see promoted to fill the spots of Skamen, TiMac, and MacScuzzy, but the command setup is a democracy (beaurocracy sometimes) and the voices and opinions of all the mods and the general community have to be wieghed into consideration when making a decision such as picking a new mod.

the Beaurocracy is that part of the MLA that wants to get things done but sometimes has problems with getting it to happen like when you picked mods

I agree with you. Hoewver, MacScuzzy should not be replaced, but instead given a co-mod.

MacScuzzy is still here?

"behind the scenes liberator"

yeah... for those of us on dialup and with limited hours (that is to say... moderatorwise... *that means "those of you*) it's probably best to comod...
