How do you guys store your extra parts, multiple computers, monitors etc. And what do you guys do about dust on systems that you always have setup?

In my computers is where my parts go... I no longer own half of my stuff... I have NO idea where the ____ it is and I"m not sure if I WANT to know... but I don' thave it

I almost always have kept a vacuum cleaner for to use when cleaning my room...

We have a Kirby Legend II complete with attachments and lifetime warranty (iThink)
it's great and it's born the same year as me
If there's anything the sucker can't do it's because I forgot how...
I think mom and dad even got a bag of chips with it
"It's all that and a bag of chips"

I got sterilite stacking drawers in WA for to hold all my parts... worked well enough.

That's a nice one! I've got a Herritage II. Not many attachments, tough because I picked it out of the garbage, where I get everything else. It's got the older-style metal impeller, too which is better than the newer plastic ones. Yes, I fix Kirbies, too, okay

LOL!

Yeah, I've got some of those too! They shatter when dropped in cold weather! That's where most of my computer parts are, in a storage shed.

I'm lucky enough to have an air compressor (yes, I picked that out of the garbage, too, okay?) and that works pretty good OUTSIDE! Sometimes, though a small horse hair brush is needed to remove stubborn dust like that impregnated in cigarette smoke. I treated it with ScotchGuard to make somewhat anti-static.

For official organization, I put the junk into magazine boxes and then put the magazine boxes into filing cabinets or on book shelves. I've got the box'o SCSI cables, a box'o modems, box'o serial cables, several boxes's of ethernet cables, etc. Bigger stuff goes where ever it fits.

In reality, most of my junk is stacked and scattered around me. Its in a perpetual state of "I'm just about to use that." When SAF forces me to clean up, I do. But when I clean up, I can't find anything anymore.

G4: I know what it's like. Often I'm asked by the PAF to clean up all my stuff, and as soon as i do, I can't find a damn thing!

Well, I setup a storage rack in where the closet in the computer room used to be. I also had work table where I store things under. Then I ran out of space. Next came the 3 10 foot shelves on the wall for storing computers and cds. Then I ran out of space. Next came the plastic boxes from hell. Lots of things in them and I can never find what I want. Then I ran out of space...

Right now, there is gear stuff everywhere and anywhere. I don't know how many systems I have. Software is a lost cause. That's why I'm building custom work benches for display and storage.

My computers are lined against one wall atop a makeshift desk, it's a work in progress, problem is its a small room & I use it for buyg selling through ebay & computer projects so it is a constant battle to keep it tidy, but the killer is when my son comes in, then he dosn't know how to tidy up.

I have pics if your'e really interested!

LOL! So true, so true! I wish physical space worked like hard disk space. I recently got a 200 GB Firewire drive in an enclosure that is smaller than the internal 40 MB drive that came in my old Mac II. Wouldn't it be nice if every 15 months, closets would double in capacity without any change in size?

Hmmm... where did I leave my Tardis....
