Ordering them is too ordered for me :) but put the following somewhere in the list of top macs

Quadra 605, Powerbook 540c, NuBus Powermacs, Beige G3 MT, Quadra 950, SE/30, 6360, icebooks.

As for the worst, well, even the traditionally worst-macs have served me well, and I'm not too fussed - probably because they cost me next to nothing. That includes an original LC (the most personality of any of my macs - she talks to herself with whistles, clicks, pops and hissing that sounds like R2D2), a 6300 which was the first mac I spent any real time with, and introduced me to photoshop, and a Classic (the first one) which was still neat despite what it wasn't.

WHY is TiBook GHz only number THREE?????

I'd say that the top ten macs in my world are

10 - First Gen pMacs/Performas (I've never had one NOT DOA)
9
8
7
6
5 - PowerMac 6500 (I have one so why not)
4 - Quadra 840AV (had one and want it back... borked [:'(]
3 - PowerMac 7300/200 (have one and it's WONDERFUL)
2 - PowerMac 8600/300 (want one SO BAD!!!)
1 - TiBook/GHz

I don't dislike enough macs to put any under slot#5 other than #10... "I love all macs, and they all love me"

Most of these lists are Mac only, the question states "Apple machines". I defined "top" as: Being the most important or significant. I can flip my numbers around a bit but these are the machines in my opinion.

1.......Plus............Defined Macintosh - Longest shipped Mac
2.......PB100...........Introduced in 1991 and still looks current
3.......Apple II........Helped define 'Personal Computer'
4.......PM 7500.........Great case, master of expansion
5.......TiBook..........Widescreen notebook
6.......SE/30...........Powerhouse of a computer
7.......Newton (120 or 2100)..Defined PDA
8.......iMac............Not the 1st all-in-one but hugely successful
9.......Qudara 840av....Solid AV on 68k
10......LCD iMac........A computer that adjusts to people

The forum software hates me. How do I do tabs?

I see that yours are mostly "the top-10"

that's what I tried to do... except I didn't fill in slots 9, 8, 7, and 6

I'm not going to put mine in order (I don't think I could!)so

G4 Cube
9600 233 (I'll explain why this is better than the 350 in a min)
Colour Classic
Quadra 840/AV
iMac CRT
Duo 2400
PBook 3400
Original TiBook
Dual USB iBook
Mac +

I own or have owned most of these apart from the PowerBooks and the 840/AV.

Well i think that covers most of my favourites I would have liked to stuff a 7x00 in there too.

Anyway this is a bit of a personal rant but can I just explain to everyone that the 9600 is not better than the 233, it is in fact worse.

If you compare two stock Macs the 350 will blow the 233 away. However it only beats the 233 because of the processor speed. So If you upgrade both to G3 400's they would be equal. Well you'd think so but the 350 will actually be significantly slower.

It seems the last gen Mach V x600's had some funky bus issues that causes them to lose about 10-15% performance using modern graphics cards (and other upgrades) cards compared to the 233's. Seeing as these days very few people are going to stick with the stock configuration especially when good G3 upgrades are going down to 50 USD in the second hand market, the 233 (or lower even) is the machine to go for.

There is far better explanation of this at www.xlr8yourmac.com

LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 CubeGo to Top of Page

I like the 8600s and proabbly wouldn't upgrade it to a g3 or g4... I just like things 'stock'

You don't. It also truncates double spaces after sentenses into single spaces (Yuck!). All double spaces, for that matter.

How iLove top ten lists! Top ten lists and forums have an etherial connection dating all the way back to the dawn of CPU time.

Now, as for my top 10 Apples, seeing that I don't even own 10, well, I have used over ten in the past, I guess, so I'll make a stab at it.

Apple //e (there's just something about that Apple //e)
Apple //c (Luggability!)
LC III (first Mac I ever used)
Cat Piss Performa 631CD
Quadra 650
Performa 6400 (built-in subwoofer makes a great jukebox!)
Power Macintosh 7600
Power Macintosh 4400 (I just like it because of the startup chime, otherwise it's real slow. You need a sub for the full effect.)
iMac
Quadra 610 (Pretty fast 68k pizzabox)Go to Top of Page
