Just scored an old Deskwriter, serial printer used only for Macs. Needs a power supply. Any ideas where I'd find Printer software for it? Anything I need to know about them, like don't squeeze the cartridges or something?

TIA.

Mac+=4, MacSE=1, MacSE30=1, P400=1, PB520c=1, LCI=-1, LCII=-1, Q605=1, Q650=1, UberQ950=1, Performa All-in-One=TBD PM7500=SQRT(-1).

My dear lord of printers man!

nothing will happen if you squease the cartriges iThink... don't try though

the power supply will probably work just from any other old deskwriter/ deskjet....

if it's a deskjet the drivers should be pretty common... dunno about a "deskwriter" though...

check HP's website...

HP has not changed the black carterage design in their printers since dinosaurs roamed. I have a deskwriter, and the PSU is a big@$$ brick on a rope. the printer is not only serial, but it also is localtalkable, right out of the box. I have orig. disks and manuals, but no mac intenet connected to send images with.

as far as everyting else is concerned, the printers are built like a stone shi...erm...outhouse, and print excellent quality.

good luck with yours, I adore mine.

Oh, my driver disks seem only to like system 6 and lower, so you may have problems there.

check out gamba and google for any updated drivers.

Ah! I made it back in! So good to hear they are/were reliable. Appears the HP had several deskwriter models - was a series.

In the drivers section of HP, for the basic Deskwriter, I see Windows XP; Mac OS 8; Mac OS 9. Pretty good! Thanks for the offer Clinton, I suspect HP can give me the goods, or gamba, as you suggested.
