Just scored an old Deskwriter, serial printer used only for Macs. Needs a power supply. Any ideas where I'd find Printer software for it? Anything I need to know about them, like don't squeeze the cartridges or something?TIA. My dear lord of printers man!nothing will happen if you squease the cartriges iThink... don't try though the power supply will probably work just from any other old deskwriter/ deskjet.... if it's a deskjet the drivers should be pretty common... dunno about a "deskwriter" though... check HP's website... HP has not changed the black carterage design in their printers since dinosaurs roamed. I have a deskwriter, and the PSU is a big@$$ brick on a rope. the printer is not only serial, but it also is localtalkable, right out of the box. I have orig. disks and manuals, but no mac intenet connected to send images with. as far as everyting else is concerned, the printers are built like a stone shi...erm...outhouse, and print excellent quality. good luck with yours, I adore mine. Oh, my driver disks seem only to like system 6 and lower, so you may have problems there. check out gamba and google for any updated drivers. Ah! I made it back in! So good to hear they are/were reliable. Appears the HP had several deskwriter models - was a series. In the drivers section of HP, for the basic Deskwriter, I see Windows XP; Mac OS 8; Mac OS 9. Pretty good! Thanks for the offer Clinton, I suspect HP can give me the goods, or gamba, as you suggested.
