I was poking around the kitchen looking for a snack before when I stumbled across my brother's class schedule for next semester. One of the class names caught my eye. It's because I'm taking it too.It seems ironic to me that I haven't really talked to my brother for weeks now, yet we both have the same class, same time, scheduled next semester. Oh well... at least this time, he can't steal my old term paper to hand in as his own. ------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 31 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

Yeah, but last semester, my brother got lazy and got the paper I handed in for Geography class (original digital document), simply changing the name on top and changing some words. If the professor figures out that's the same paper I handed in 5 months before, I'll claim he accessed my computer without my permission and took my paper. I disavou any knowledge of my brother's actions... ------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 31 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

People too lazy to do their own work with either have it bite them in the ass someday, or will become your boss at work. Some people view it as being lazy and dishonest, others see it as solving the problem with the smallest effort possible.

You could always encrypt your old papers after you are done. Or, if your brother can extract things from you, then you could inplant little nasty notes in the paper in random places ("prof x is blithering idiot") or randomize some key facts (transpose/substitute/modify a few key names or dates that your lazy brother would not know). Personnally, I'd create a honeypot by prominently placing a copy of the "modified" term paper in an easy to find spot while hiding the true copy of the paper in some out of the way corner of the HD.G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent

I don't know if I was that clear about what happened there...I gave my brother my old term paper He put his name on top and fixed a few words If he gets caught, it's on his head, not mine. It would suck really bad for him if he does get caught. He would loose his full ride scholarship, and would probably get kicked out of school. ------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 31 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

For your brother's sake, do not give him another paper. There are tools out there that professors can use to detect plagiarism. They automatically analyze papers on the basis of word frequency and pattern and compare them to a database of previously submitted papers. I'm not saying that every professor uses these tools, but each time a person cheats, there is a definite non-zero chance of getting caught. I doubt your brother wants to screw up the rest of his life just for the sake of not having to spend a few hours writing his own papers.Take care. Thank you, I was thinking about that and I know that it's been mentioned on The Screen Savers on TechTV before. I forgot exactly what the website was called but they pretty much do just that. There's also places where you can go and buy your term papers for like... $5 Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"
