What would be best QT video format (codec) for my LC 475 to get the best performance? (25 MHz, 256 colors, 640x480, 36 MB RAM) I know I won't get a good performance with that. Especially with 256 colors, but still I want to try to burn some music videos or maybe even films.Resolution should be about 320x240 or better And FPS over 10 I guess the sound should be in 22 KHz, 8 bit, MACE 3:1 --------- The Best of the 68k Games: http://www.hot.ee/macgames/ |

I'm not the expert on this, but I'm going to say "Video". That's the one that you're supposed to use with video. The other ones are for line art and CGI graphics and stuff.Don't be surprised if you just get 10fps, and make sure you have a nice big hard drive on there >5gig. Interesting question. One hour and thirty minutes later...Quadra 630 (4x cd, I think, could be a 2x) 20M RAM MacOS 8.1 Quicktime 4 File: Sherly Crow - Soak up the sun.mov from iTunes Music Store 320 x 240 - 29.97 fps - 37.8 MB Cinepak 256 colors 160x120 - 15 fps - 22.5MB - Plays well, looks fair 320x240 - 15 fps - 56.7MB - Plays OK, drops frames easy. Looks fair Video 160x120 - 15 fps - 18.2MB - Plays well, looks fair (Looks better at Thousands color setting) 320x240 - 15 fps - 107.3MB - Not going to happen All audio Mace 3:1 - 22KHz - 8 bit - stereo emaq123 SE/30 and system 6.0.8 Now we're talking POWER! |

Well, with that much power I would think so... Even my Quadra 630 edges out the LC 475. I've got to pull out my 605 to see how it fairs. I don't have a MacOS 7.6 cd but I may have a hard disk with it installed. I think 7.6 with QT 2.5 may be the fastest combo here. More testing is needed. emaq123 SE/30 and system 6.0.8 Now we're talking POWER! |
