I have RoadRunner DialAccess. I would like to get my Quadra 605 connected to the internet with my SupraExpress 33.6 modem.
I have tried PPP and it doesn't work. Does anybody else have RoadRunner DialAccess and have gotten it to work on a 68k? I would like to get this Quadra online. I would like to have a real 68k access the internet. thanks in advance for the help.

I forgot to mention that I am using MacOS 8.1 on this Quadra 605.
I dunno if the RAM matters, but it has 20MB in it.

DOn't you have an OS 7.5 or 8.1 CD? because usually everything you need to connect to the internet is on there...

i haven't tried FreePPP yet, but i do know tha RR DialAccess didn't like the regular PPP that was installed when I installed OT/PPP.
Keep in mind I couldnt get it to connect without their software in Windows either. I was just wondering if anybody found a way to connect. I could patch it through to the internet via LAN but i can't find an LC PDS Ethernet card and I don't do eBay.

Cory, remember you didn't wanna send me the whole CD. You only gave me the installer. I don't have all that stuff. Luckily SmartKid88 gave me a link on where to find it on Apple's website. I CAN dial but my ISP doesn't like to use standard PPP or something.

I've been on dialup! and I thought you had a 7.5.3 CD of your own anyway? or was this a floppy disk set?

Have you created the PPP script needed to connect to RoadRunner DialAccesss? See the bottom of http://www.visorvillage.com/boards/General/messages/4580.html for details on the configuraiton and PPP script that they used to get a Visor to work on RoadRunner.

Best wishes!

I was using my Quadra 840av for a long while, with dial up.

I don't know if dial up differs US from Uk.

I use Powergen & they babysat me through the process though this was hardly nessacary.

What you need is;

DNS number(s)
dial up number
username
password

That should be it AFAIK

good luck, my 840av was certainly competent(running os 8.1), but you will smile a little more using a 56k modem.

Well first off, my phone line is low quality and has issues. I never got anything faster than 24k off of it with any modem. I'll be happy once i can get myself a network card for it.

I have the "Apple Macintosh CD Ver.2" Which came with the 6100, 7100, and 8100 series Power Macintosh computers. It just so happens to have OS 7.5 on it. But I wanted 8.1 and as I already mentioned I CAN dial to the phone line. Its just establishing a connection to the ISP. It currently it will connect, talk to the ISP then after a minute or two it will disconnect. Yes I did find that script... it didn't work.

I suppose nobody else here uses RoadRunner DialAccess? I wish these ISPs would just use regular old PPP. I mean, this is rediculous.
