hey guys i got a few tips on improving the 68kmla.
don't know whether you'll like it.

anyway, i went to your website and found out the merchandise section.
well, if you want to sell something with more bussiness oriented, try http://www.cafepress.com . register a store there. it's free and it's really is a wyswyg store. you just upload a graphic there and they have a lot of items. you just choose the items, modify the graphics on it and it's done. it's real simple and a lot of people use it.

for a good free web provider, try http://www.freewebs.com . it's also free, 100MB no banner, just a simple tiny line that state it's on freewebs.com. it's fast and i think it really is a good server. it's also got a wyswyg website.

anyway, i'm just giving this out thinking i can help 68kmla.
if you don't like it, nevermind...

http://www.free-webspace.org/FreeWebs.php

Although it is free, there is a major downfall I see right away. Last year, if I recall correctly, the 68KMLA Forums were using 3GB/month, where FreeWebs is only 500MB/month. Switching over would cause the MLA to go down for the better part of each month.

Currently, our forum hosting is through donated space from LiteratureClassics, and our website is also free (I forget where it's hosted). The only thing I think anyone paid for is the domain name.

Don't worry about it Pojam. Suggestions are always welcome at the MLA.

I don't know what Coxy has set up (if anything) for 68KMLA Merchandise. I kinda wanted to get a black t-shirt with this design back when orders were being taken (or rather, not taken). After all, I was the designer of that graphic.

Oh well... some day.

tell you what. with cafepress.com you just upload the graphics. pick what type of merchandise you want to have it on, modify the graphics and it's done.

they have a reserve price, and you can set the price.
if the reserve is $17, sell it at $19. you get $2.
i know it's not much but you got the idea...
and they have unlimited supply of it.

damn, i sound like their salesman or something.
promoting them on and on.

if you want to know more check my store http://www.cafepress.com/careonreverse

Seems interesting... I'd certainly buy and proudly wear a 68kMLA shirt if I had known that A) they existed and B) that they were/are/willbe for sale...

Well I'm in charge of the MLAgazine... I don't see why we can't have someone like you in charge of the merchandise department

I'd even put in a good word about the MLA-Merchandise in the MLAgazine... (I can create ads.. but if you wanted to create an ad of your own...)

hey man. just email prohacks@hotmail.com the graphics & artwork to me.
i'll handle it. i register at cafepress store.
the thing is, the free store limits up to 7 items only.
and you can't have different graphics on a t shirt.
a t shirt is only for 1 design only.
if you need to have different designs for a t shirt,
have to be a paying member. i don't know how much it cost.

tell you what, we just use the free stuff first.
if people starts buying and supporting it, then we'll get the paying member thing.

what do u think ?
pojam.

Exactly.

I have looked at it before, and IIRC the only design which would have been allowed under the stringent rules is the most boring one.

Also, the local student copy centre which had a cheap-ish shirt printing offer when I couldn't get money from my US comrades no longer offers the deal now that I have a credit card and Paypal account.

I only really left the page up because:
1) I am kinda lazy
2) People can download the A4 pics from the gallery and run off their own shirts using inkjet transfer paper for a lot cheaper than buying a shirt

Thank you! Exactly what I thought!
which one is the logo now?
it's the one that says FORUMS under it right?
because if that's it it also doesn't infringe copyright laws ithink

I tried to buy some shirts from ~coxy many moons ago, but he didn't have any way we pay (I suggested international Western Union money orders, but he never responded).

That being said, rather than T-shirts, which I always wear under another shirt, because I'm geeky enough to need shirt pockets, I'd like to see real button shirts with pockets, or maybe a light spring/fall jacket. No point in hiding the 68KMLA light under a barrel.

You ALL realise that for a website like what is described, low-traffic mostly just for us to buy shirts and other MLA logo items, we almost all have required internet connectivity and etc.....

A mac IIsi could handle the serving required... (really, look at that A/UX Penelope page)
