Hi,I have decided to replace my Powerbook 180c due to a minor mishap. It seems some ants decided it would be nice to make a nest in my Powerbook 180c, I discovered them last night while I took out the battery, so many ants . I have decided to replace the Powerbook (Im going to sell it on eBay, I am aiming for 180 AUD), and I am thinkg of replacing it with a 68k Macintosh from the LC line. I dont like the pizzabox stlye of case, so that leaves me with the 'all in one' design. With this in mind, I am eyeing off the Macintosh LC 580. Any thoughts?

Looks like I am sticking with the Powerbook 180c, a combination of compress air, fly spray, and other chemicals are scaring off the ants..

I'd go for the 580 (if you were LCing it)theyre the best of the lot and have (option) AV input same from most other PowerPC and misc. perfoma lines... no TV/FM tuner or remote like the 630 but... seeing as how your a non-pizzabox kinda man... you could get a serial cable and network them Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |

Yes, I have been swaping sides on whether to go for the upgrade or not, but I have decided to go for the Macintosh LC 580, just makes more sense, and a bigger screen, and more features, and more......The price is right too, 80 bucks from AppleBits for one, all I need to do is sell the Powerbook 180c for a decent price, which might be a problem....

yeah... I'd check around with some of the other austrailian MLAers because that number seems awfully high for a 580 unless it comes with ALOT OF trimmings... including, but not limited to, maximum memory, the AV kit, a vidophone kit or something... CD rom, lots of software, keyboard and mouse, and if it's NIB for $30 you can get an LC580 sans CD drive from www.shrevesystems.com... supposedly new in it's box...
seems like a good deal to me... :-\ Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |
