YAY!

Those pesky ISPs can sure be a problem. I had one ISP that was bought by another and they neglected to inform me that they were killing all the old accounts. Even now we log into the internet via an account on our current ISP that is officially dead, but still works. I figure I'll put in the new parameters when the old ones stop working.

Glad to hear your 7600 is back in action.

That's pretty crappy, why would they do that? I signed up for Netcom in 94 maybe 93. IT was bought by another company, I think, then earthlink. I had my netcom mail/account until about a year ago when I switched to Cable.

netcom kicked butt back in the day...

I feel your pain, shaktiman. My ISP changed their POP3 server's DNS address a few days ago and I couldn't get e-Mail until I figured it out. At least they posted it to the website. They do have a really nifty corner of the website where they list their network status and that's where it was. It saved me an e-Mail to tech support.

Was the ISP that got bought called "CWIX" Cable/Wireless Internet [something with an X]

Because they were bought by Prodigy... then when dad switched ISPs AGAIN! to IntegraTelecom I went back to using uReach for eMail... still works today...

I know they are not the best at some things, but I am sticking with Powergen as my ISP.

I telephoned first thing Tuesday morning(after bank holidays had finished) & was back on the net 15 minutes later.

The reasons I am staying with them are:

A) The charges are competetive

B) Their customer service is good, you can call them 9am till 8pm & they are available via e-mail

C) They are Mac friendly

D) They also provide me with cheaper calls than BT & with again competetive rates on Gas & Electric

E) They're an environmentally friendly company

F) They have been planting wind-farms in the Midlands(UK), so I know that they are investing in my community

G) They advertise quite smartly in my opinion advertising after the weather(further planting an idea of being environmentally aware) & advertising at rugby matches! well I am guessing that advertising at rugby matches will be cheaper & more stable than at football matches (football is high profile here in UK, rugby much less so).

H) They are based in Nottingham & I love phoning them to hear my local accent!

They are an American company & this just go's to show that I don't have a problem doing business with Americans, but I don't like ntl or Microsoft.
