I have yet to find a retailer selling an AAUI adaptor for less than 15-20$ yet nubus ethernet cards are 10$ Has anyone found a good source other than ebay for aaui ethernet adaptors?

Well if you don't want to use Ebay, your next best best is to try the newsgroups. Post a wanted request in "comp.sys.mac.wanted" plus any other appropriate groups stating how many you want and how much you are willing to pay.
You should be able to get them pretty cheap. I just bought 2 for $4 each.
You could also try mailing lists like the LEM swap list.
