Get the user manual off Gamba2 or the Apple site and follow the instructions about whether or not you'll need an additional pass thru terminator or not. You'll need a special SCSI Disk Mode cable or an adapter for a standard cable. When you boot the PB (first) with it hooket up, it'll come up looking like any other SCSI peripheral device at whatever ID you've set in the PowerBook control panel. Boot the Mac after the SCSI icon appears with the ID number in it and starts marching around as a screen saver. The PB is unusable while in SCSIDM.

Ok I downloaded the PDF on the PowerBook 3400c and read the info. That answered my questions. I need a special cable for SCSI disk mode. Thanks SM

Well I search Apple's website before posting this and all it came up with was firewire target disk mode. It didn't even occur to me to download the owners manual. I guess that's because it was to easy to do. Thanks again for correcting my ignorance. SM
