Hi,Ive been looking at the Newton Acccessories I can get from bothn http://www.gementerprises.com/index.html and http://www.shrevesystems.com/ and I have been wondering about the possible uses of my green and incredibly batery hungery MessagePad 120 . Now, for a PDA of its age would the following setup be, unreasonable: -For more heavy typing tasks I would have the Newton Keyboard, for such things as converting notes writen in books for subjects where the teachers wont let me write directly to my Newton, damn English. (Care of Shreeve Systems for $19 USD). -So I can finally dock the thing to my PC, Im looking at one of the Newton to PC cables. (Care of GEM Enterprises for $10 USD). -To jam the thing with software I am thinking of one of those software CD's. (Care of GEM Enterprises for $5 USD). -Now, here comes the painful one, I need a flash card, finding one is a bit of a pain though. I have found one at GEM Enterprises for $45 USD (8mb) but thats more than I paid for the whole Newton, do you guys no where I could get one cheaper? (Lower capacity is fine). -A 33.6 Modem w/ X-Jack to check email on my Newton using Eudora 1.1 (On the CD). Modem has the handy feature of not requirng a dongle. (Care of GEM Enterprises). -A Rechargable Batterypack plus Charger (Batteries care of Shreeve Systems for $2 USD). I have no idea where I can get the charger from though, with the Australian Powerplug setup. Does anyone know where I can get one from? -An AC Adaptor, once again in the Austraian plug setout. Does anyone know where I can get one from? I would strongly appreciate it if someone could inform me to where I could find the products which I do not yet know I can get, and whether the above setup is appropriate for a Newtom MP120. Thanks in advance. Edited by - Fedorenko on 18 Apr 2003 01:35:08 |

All of the things you want to do with it are fine, and the pricing looks good on everything besides the flash card. Try the newton talk list for flash cards, people had 4mb and 8mb going for half that price, just a short while ago. Also, the AC adapter is dual voltage compliant. It auto adjusts between 110 and 240, so no worries there, unless you need a different physical plug shape. ~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Complete Win 98 install later, and Im back. Damn windows.....After having a few days to think about all fo this, I have the following new questions: -In regards to the AC Adaptor, could any generic adaptor do the job, as long as it fit the voltage output required? -Also in regards to the AC Adaptor, does the charging station use the same as the Newton? Also, I have been thinking about what I should carry my Newton around in. What I would like to know is, if it is possible to find a case (preferably leather) that can carry the following things neatly and easily: -Newton MP 120 -Newton Keyboard -2 PCMCIA Cards (Modem and Blank or Modem and Flash Card or Flash Card and Blank) -A spare backup recahrgable battery pack -A screen cleaning cloth Any sugestions on the case?

New Question.J and K Sales Incorporated sells a http://www.jksalesinc.com/2x00_memory.htm 2mb Flash Card that in the picture looks like one of the ones compatable with an MP120, the thing is they say it is for MP 2x00 only. Would it work in an MP120?

No. If you try to use that Flash Card in the 120, it'll be Read-Only (I think)What VERSION is your 120? Newton OS 1.3 or 2.0? ~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Admin of The WonderLAN ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |

Is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3019933925&category=27966 suitable for a MessagePad 120?Also, will http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3019242134&category=27966 actually plug into an RJ-11 socket, it just looks a little small.
