Yeah. I'm surprised he didn't call AppleCare back to talk to another guy. You can't get an idiot every time you call, can you? |

Okay, Apple's responce was out of line, but...1) The hinge was stuck on one side to the point where he had to resort to tricks to get it to open. 2) The hinge wouldn't keep the screen in place at certain angles. Why the hell didn't this moron call Apple earlier about his faulty hinge?! ,xtG .tsooJ -- who | grep -i blonde | date cd ~; unzip; touch; strip; finger mount; gasp; yes; uptime; umount sleep |

This has been discussed at great length on the DealMac Forum (several threads). The general consensus seems to be, from people who've seen him elsewhere, that this guy is arrogant and ham-handed, prone to breaking stuff and then making a fuss about it. It's really impossible to know what actually happened--did the hinge stick and did he take a hammer to it?--but is it unreasonable for Apple to assume he abused the 'book? Clearly to get some consideration he'd have to take it to an Apple store or authorized repair shop and get an independent opinion./Mr Lynn The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn’t have a space program. --Larry Niven |

Read the story. It clearly says that one morning, just like all others (28 of them up till then) he opened the 'book, this one it was stuck a bit, so he had to stick his fingernail into the slot to get it opened (a problem with the latch on this one) then, he heard a cracking sound and that WAS THE FIRST EVIDENCE OF PROBLEMS WITH THE HINGE. I wish people would get it through their sometimes thick skulls, if someone uses a laptop as their main mac (LIKE I DO!!!) they aren't going to call apple every time it has a wee bit of a problem opening, and wait 3 weeks for apple to call back, then for apple to come and get it, and ship it back or whatever happens. You'll note that when the guy gets up is at about 5 or 6, 1-2 hours BEFORE AppleCare phone support opens up (Pacific time)(GMT -7 or 8 iThink) Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |
