Hello fellow Macophiles

I teach undergrad and grad students at a private university, and I do some tech services work at a local k - 8 private school. Naturally this puts me in a prime pouncing position to save all the Macs I can. I've saved 3 7100's with monitors, GV modem 33.6 modem, piles o' scsi, keyboard and comm cables, mice, monitors, 2 dozen AAUI to 10base T e'net adapters, tons of old software, (about 1,000 sticks of 30 pin and 72 pin RAM - no exaggeration!) and the following:
1 Quadra 840av
1 6116
2 5200's (64 MB RAM + TV video in each)
2 SE's (one with a red floppy activity LED)
2 ImageWriter II
1 6500/225 + 15 AppleVision monitor w/speakers
Color StyleWriter 4500 printer

I've also liberated a Classic from a friend who was going to ditch it; my most recent liberation was an LC 575 in perfect condition from a fellow prof at school. I've also got 2 CC's in perfect condition (one with a CCII moboard). I am always on the lookout for other systems - esp. all in one Classic Macs. My main systems are a QS 867 w/ a gig of RAM and 100 MB HDD (with Superdrive and dual Apple Studio 17" monitors, running 10.2.5), an iMac 350 (320 MB RAM) and a WallStreet II 233 with an 8GB harddrive and 14.1" screen.

One of the nicest things about this job, besides saving Macs (and finding good homes for some of them) is the joy I feel when tossing out old Dells, Gateways and Compaqs (all of which are complete trash) as I stand over them in triumph.

Woo Hoo!

Ron

Nice collection! I envy you your "prime pouncing position"

Regarding the peecee garbage, you might have some fun from stripping any usable tidbits from those machines. Some of them might contain HDs, RAM, or PCI cards that are usable in a Mac. And if you are of a hackerish-bent, the cases and powersupplies can the converted for Hackintosh projects.

Yes. Oh, and keep the Dells, they aren't bad machines. However, if you get any Ipexes, find a Holden (or Chevy), and...well.....run 'em over!

Welcome to the forums!

You have a very nice collection of macs! Impressive stuff!
I am particularly intersted in the SE with the red LED activity indicator. Never seen one of those before!

Curious!

Our family used to have one, but my dad had to return it to the university. It think it had something to do with the hard drive that was in there; all the others I've seen have an amber light.

My friends dad used to bring back an SE/30 from university which also had a red activiy LED, never thought anything of it at the time.

I still think the old Apple HDs with the piezo activiy "cheeper" are really cute though. I wish I hadn't thrown that busted 20SC drive out (kept the case though) I could have pulled the beeper out and wired it up to my 605..
