I've just spent ages looking for a place to d/l A/UX. The old links don't work, and the firewall i am behind has blocked all P2P programs. Can someone please help if they know of a reliable download? I want to get A/UX before i go home, so that i can get it on the fast 'net connection!TIA. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

hey some penguin around here has an AFP server running you might be able to get A/UX from that if his OSs are on AFP also.I'd say that you need to do this when your 1400 or other burning mac is at UNI though... and LATE AT NIGHT for him Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |

Last time that I checked, archaic-apples.com worked for me.did you actually try to download, or did you just look at the thing, and have it tell you that you cant? you need toast to burn it, and it can sometimes be dicey to do so. mine worked sort of OK after a bunch of tries. email me: ccrawford_AT_sphs-web.lausd.k12.ca.us, and I'll burn/mail you a copy if you want one. DO NOT put a period at the end of the subject line of my email, or I will not get it, stupid damned exchange server ;) CCC Commander Promotion: 19 Mar 2003 13:06:30 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, an SE/30, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |

Try ftp://alge.anart.no/pub/AUX/ It is a very fast server. I haven't been able to get the boot disk file on a floppy though. I keep getting the message that the file is just a few Kb too big. Any ideas? muzhok p.s. waiting for a Quadra 950 Server that I bought on the e-bay for 17 euros (19$)and that is including shipping! Had to boast! Hope the box works. I am hoping to make it my AUX box.

Thanks Cory! No rush however. I will wait till the Quadra arrives and see if I can figure out how to get the boot file to fit on the floppy from the download. Can anyone tell me though if AUX boxes are multiple boot capable using more than one hard disk? I mean, if I insert an additional HD with, say, OS 7.5, files, and programs on it and then mount it within AUX, will I have the choice of which system to boot from? After all, the Quadra 950 can accomodate 5 HD and I have quite a few (small ones) lying around that I got from broken macs. I have read the A/UX FAQ page and also the installation page at http://www.floodgap.com/retrotech/os/aux/ but it seems that in this case they talk about setting up a MacOS partition from scratch on the same HD as A/UX. As the Quadra won't be here for at least a week, I have got time to look up more info (and figure out what to do about the floppy). liberated from trash: IIsi, lc, performa 475 (smoked and missing VRAM) bought on ebay: lc and Quadra 950

I'm going to get A/UX (have 3.0 and 3.1 update cd's) running on my Q950 with server pds card addon this week or next week.I also have a 8gb external HD I might setup as storage for a hotline server on this machine if anybody is interested. I might have the a/ux boot floppies around somewhere if you guys need them (I have an 8x cdrom in the 950 so I boot from that) Where can I find pdf's of a/ux 3.0 or 3.1 manuals?

Hello Unknown_K! I haven't found any pdf manuals, but here are the sites I am reading in preparation of my install. http://nick.backpack.net/greataux/articles.html http://www.geo.tu-freiberg.de/docs/apple/aux/ http://www.floodgap.com/retrotech/os/aux/ http://www.nleymann.com/appleAUX/index.htm Hope this helps. BTW, the bootdisk image on the tu-freiberg site is smaller than the one on the ftp://alge.anart.no/pub/AUX/ site. I wonder why?

the A/UX OS is 7.0.1 but you can have personal system folders for each user and/or upgrade any/all of these up to 8.1I like this because with individual system folders... each user gets their own preferrences and etc etc. As far as video cards go... look at the system folders thing... "if you can put it ina system folder, it'll work" I believe though that there was a few accelerated apple video cards that weren't supported though. Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |

They also sell HyperCard and QTVR 2 Authoring Studio. However, if you want to buy QTVR Authoring Studio, make sure that first you install 16 megabytes of RAM and install System 7.5. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |
