I have just visited OWC looking for memory for my 7600/132, the have two types both of which they claim will work in my mac, one being edo, the other not I guess. Which would be best for me to get?We shall now see who is better OWC customer support or 68kmla shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive os 8.1 128 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive PPC7600/132, 4.23Gig & 500 Meg drives, 8X cd os 8.6 Performa400(deadintheattick) 3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" |

I've always used 168 pin, 5v, 60ns Fast Page Memory (FPM). If for no ther reason than that is most likely the kind you have installed already, and you can't mix and match EDO and FPM RAM.- - - - - - - - - - - - - A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it sure beats a blank stare for starting a conversation. 68k ParaMedic |

IIRC you can probably use either in your Mac. However if you go back to OWC and click on the accelerators tab it asks you a series of questions about your mac and then lists all the upgrades that work in it and none of the ones that don't.I suspect you would also find GURU very handy. It's a little out of date now but nobody cares about that around here. It's a small program that lists the specs of every mac up until the first AGP G4s IIRC. It's made by newer tech and it's extremely useful. I have no idea where you can download it but a google search should find it quickly. It means you can quickly check the specs of any mac you find on eBay, handy when all they give you is the model number. -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

I'm not sure about the 7600 but i know that EDO can damage the 7200's mobo. You'd probably be safer to get FPM.-------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

Rather than everyone spouting random comments.....According to OWC the 7600 can use EDO or non EDO RAM Personally when buying from OWC I'd get the non EDO as it's a LOT cheaper. The 128MB 4k refresh DIMMs for 25 USD are a steal. Personally I always bought 2k refresh incase I ever bought a G4 upgrade as rumour has it G4 upgrades don't like the 4k refresh DIMMs. However the cost of a G4 upgrade machine for a machine like this can't be justified, and an 800 MHz G3 should trounce a 550 MHz G4... I think the 7200 was a special case. Anyway this is the OWC item number OWC5MD128MBG Before you buy sign up for the mailing list and use the links to the mailing list prices which are typically about 2 or 3 USD cheaper for RAM. -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

I've been thinking of getting memory for my 7300 and 6500... Maybe I should look at OWC... I actually havent looked at anywhere before because 64MB has always been enough... (truth-be-told it still is)Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |
