Just in case people with se/30's haven't noticed, I thought this was a cool item. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone and without screwing up the back of the case! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3411475127&category=25436 |

That's very likely just a (DB-15) ThickNet connector, everybody thinks it's a Video connector the first time they see one!jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |

Yup! You should make sure its a video connector rather than a ThickNet (network) connector.-------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

It is probably an AUI port and would allow you to use thinnet. I've heard of thicknet, but don't really know what it is. II2II Intelligence officer in training. |

The AUI is thicknet. Thin-net is Coax cable. 10/100 Base T is the Cat 5 with RJ45 plugs we all use.Thinnet and Thicknet are shielded, and can go further distances without signal loss. There were never ANY Ethernet/Video combo cards. You COULD use an internal video upgrade card, that put Greyscale onthe intetnal monitor... and THEN put on an Ethernet card via a passthru slot however. ~Marchie. ~Chaplain Marchie Admin of The WonderLAN ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |

There were Ethernet daughtercards for the Futura NuBus cards . . . for those who might be interested . . . but no combos for the 030 PDS . . . AFAIK either.jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |

you can tell thicknet from video/game by looking at how the connector attaches. The Video connectors have little places for the thumbscrews to go into, wheras the thicknet connector has an odd metal plate where a clip fits. The Thicknet connectors do not have the thumbscrews.good luck CCC Commander Promotion: 19 Mar 2003 13:06:30 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, an SE/30, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |
