Just in case people with se/30's haven't noticed, I thought this was a cool item.

That's very likely just a (DB-15) ThickNet connector, everybody thinks it's a Video connector the first time they see one!

Yup! You should make sure its a video connector rather than a ThickNet (network) connector.

The video claims have been removed from the auction description.

It is probably an AUI port and would allow you to use thinnet. I've heard of thicknet, but don't really know what it is.

The AUI is thicknet.
Thin-net is Coax cable.
10/100 Base T is the Cat 5 with RJ45 plugs we all use.

Thinnet and Thicknet are shielded, and can go further distances without signal loss.

There were never ANY Ethernet/Video combo cards. You COULD use an internal video upgrade card, that put Greyscale onthe intetnal monitor... and THEN put on an Ethernet card via a passthru slot however.

There were Ethernet daughtercards for the Futura NuBus cards . . . for those who might be interested . . . but no combos for the 030 PDS . . . AFAIK either.

you can tell thicknet from video/game by looking at how the connector attaches. The Video connectors have little places for the thumbscrews to go into, wheras the thicknet connector has an odd metal plate where a clip fits. The Thicknet connectors do not have the thumbscrews.

good luck
